Globalization is the state of business as it has always existed on a larger scale.

You (the consumer) want goods that you perceive to be of the greatest quality available for the price that you find yourself willing to pay.

Business wants to create the maximum opportunity to make profits by employing the most efficient resources available (greatest quality available for the price they the business finds itself willing to pay), people who can achieve results for the company that justifies more than the wages and benefits available to the position they hold, and technology able to rapid return its asking cost either directly or indirectly through improved operations, faster results, etc. The business wants to provide you a good that you are willing to buy at a price that you are willing to pay that achieves the maximum profit for the business and they want you to come back for more of their product. Moreover, the business hopes to increase its market share and take a more competitive position in its market.

Globalization helps both you and the business. The business is able to lower cost and receive a greater profit while achieving similar or better quality than the alternative. The consumer is able to receive a similar or better quality product for a lower price.

Conflict arises when the business is able to globalize. They mainly achieve the improved results by moving labor, basic labor, or assembly to a nation that proves able to provide the services at a lower cost than the home nation. The process supports the global economy by bringing new money to the host nation while achieving cheaper products for the receiving nation. The process eliminates jobs at home through moving basic labor overseas or by moving the supplier overseas and makes the home-nation job-pool more competitive than necessary.

From the business stand point: “Why would I buy corn at $90 a bushel to resale at a profit of $10 a bushel if my competitive market will allow me to sell it for $100 when I can buy it for $60 a bushel overseas and sell it at a profit of $30 while setting the market price at $90?”

From the consumer stand point: “I am able to buy similar or higher quality goods at a lower price but, on a long enough timeline, I will either decrease or lose my ability to pay even the lower price if I am forced to be more competitive for a lesser job or I am jobless all together because the global market was able to replace me at a lower cost.”

This is a very basic overview that does not take infinite amounts of variables into account.

Globalisation has advantages for some and disadvantages for others.
For a simple consumer like me, it is in a way advantageous, since I have more choice of quality, better price and of course the better looks.
It may not have been possible for me to buy an Nike or Rebok sitting at home, but for globilisation. Now everything is at my door step.
However think of a small shoe manufacturer in a city, who once was safe, because, Nike and Rebok was not sold in his city. His brand was sold more, since people did not have the choices of Nike and Rebok.
Now after globilisation, and free market economy, Nike or Rebok has entered that city and people have more choices apart from the shoe brand of that small manufacturer. This manufacturer, in the face of competition with big name, loose out as less and less people buy his product. He ultimately may have to stop his business. Therefore is is disadvantageous fo him.

From my 56 year old point of view, there are goods and bads to it just like everything. You have a wider access to things but you lose the one on one customer service we used to have years ago. The more globalized the world gets, the farther we get from getting an answer when we have one and the more de-humanized it gets. Just like everything else, the larger it is at the top,the smaller we are at the bottom.
