The symptoms sound like an infection since he is running a feber. I don't think the advil would have made him feverish. I will pray for the pup and for you. I know how scared you must be. He is where he needs to be and I am sure they will do everything they can to help your baby!! Thoughts and prayers are with you.

A friend of my husband's used to work as a front office person for a vet. She had heard the doctor prescribe aspirin for a dog for some reason or another and when someone called with the same problem for a cat she told the person to give them aspirin. The cat almost died because it is deadly to them, but as far as I know it is tolerable to dogs. The reaction is probably something to do with the amount and the age of your pup. Like you don't give a small child grown up aspirin and such. I am sure the vet is doing everything they know for the puppy.
I hope all turns out well for you and Stryker Ali. I know how horrible it is to have to just wait in these situations, but that's all you can do at the moment, just rest assured that you did the right thing by rushing him to the doctor and have faith that they will put things to rights.

Our emergency c-section ($2300) just barely beat out our stud fee ($2000). It was a Sunday afternoon and our mentor had spent the whole weekend at our house waiting. She had to leave Sunday morning to get back to work and her parting advice was if there was no progress by noon have her checked out at the vet (our other mentor was scheduled to come in around dinner time). Luckily our repro vet has a 24 hour emergency clinic, so our vet was already there with a skeleton staff. We brought her in for a check up and the pups heart rates were at 73 already, so we made the immediate decision to have a c-section. In less than 45 minutes we had enough techs and helpers to preform the surgery. If we had waited even until regular hours on Monday, all would have been lost. Now bear in mind, our girl continued to eat, didn't nest, wasn't panting, etc. She was presenting no symptoms of labor that would have indicated any concern on our part. In the phone call to the vet, she wasn't overly concerned either- really had her in to make us feel better I think. I am so grateful to our mentor for knowing the quirks of the breed and of transcervical AI so she gave us the info we needed to have 10 healthy pups delivered.

Advil will take out a dogs kidneys - you did the right thing by rushing him to the vet. I had a friend whos 25 lb dog got an entire bottle and was saved by the vet rush and a lot of IV fluids to flush the kidneys. However the fever may indicate another illness especally if you are not sure he actually got the advil...

So sorry to hear about your puppy. I have been told that if they eat something they aren't suppose to - give them hydrogen peroxide to make them vomit. Your puppy could also be sick from some other problem like parvo virus or something. It's a good thing you took him to the vet. Hang in there.

It sounds like ingesting an advil is just coincidental. If he haas fever etc. then I think something else is wrong as advil is used to lower fever.

You people are not answering the question...he wants understanding and compassion..not medical advice.
I am so sorry this has happened. I understand what you must be going through. Please don't blame yourself, accidents happen. Please be patient, with a little luck and some time he will pull through. My prayers are with you and your puppy.
