Go to the TV guide and find out when the dog whisperer will be on again. Get his web address and email him. Maybe you could be the next show he does. Good luck.

You have to find out what he is barking at. It may be a simple solution such as if he is barking at people walking past your house, close the curtains.
Retreivers are lively dogs and need lots of exercise, make sure he is getting enough. You don't say his age or if he has just started this so it may be worth getting him checked out at the vet.
Is there a female in season near by causing him distress?
Teach him the 'quiet' command. Do this by when he stops barking, leave it a couple of second, tell him quiet and give him a titbit (not many retreiever refuse).
If he constantly barks, try giving him a kong full of treats to keep him amused.
Water pistols are better then noise activated collars as you can operate them more acurately, collars sometiimes will go off at other sounds.
Good luck

You need to assess the dog to find out what he is barking at. The answer will depend on the conclusions from above. In the meatime follow below.

You can't train a dog to stop barking until you teach him to bark...or "speak". While teaching this command....and to stop his barking put a non-toxic, vile tasting substance in a spray bottle and when he barks spay it in is mouth being careful not to get it in is eyes. He will not like the taste and will work at it awhile to get rid of it. Vinegar should work well for this.

Don't use water..he will think it's just a game as it has no ill effects. Water doesn't deter my dog she plays with it.

You could try a bark control collar, which has worked 4 me. We also have a little black box called "barker breaker" that you beep a high pitched sound when they bark. This is effective too.

when is it barking? i dont believe in anti barking collars etc as i dont think you want to stop your dog from barking you just want it to understand quiet so you can stop him when you want.
you have to figure out why it barks and what it hopes to achive by barking and then refuse it what it wants while it is barking.
so if he barks to get out, stand at the door tell him quiet and open the door, as soon as he barks close the door. as soon as he stops open the door again. keep repeating this and the dog will learn that he will only get what he wants by obeying the quiet command. you can then use this for any other situation.

Buy a good quality ultrasonic collar that makes noise only he can hear when he barks. Look on web/ask vet/ask pet shops.Needs to be one that you can adjust loudness.

The citronella ones only work for a while as the dog works ways around it.

In any given situation, focus on what you do want your dog to do instead of on whatever he’s doing wrong. Learn how to train your dog https://tr.im/Oy0xT

For example, suppose that on many evenings, your young dog gets busy looking for trouble just as you’re digesting your dinner. He grabs a boot from the mat by the front door and gallops through the house with it. You yell at him and take it away. He grabs its mate. You yell and take it away. He heads for the kitchen and starts checking out the counters in case something tasty’s been left behind. You chase him away. And on and on, until you’ve lost your temper and torn out clumps of hair you can ill afford to lose.

You have you figure out the cause of his barking and then work around it that way. I will say, however, that excessive barking is usually due to separation anxiety, boredom or attention seeking.
