Wouldn't the have abridged those passages while they still had exclusive rights to the Book. Or were the to busy reviling in their "whoreish" ways to catch the reference.

The Catholic Church did not exist at the time Revelations was written. The "Beast" is a "numerology" reference to the Emperor Neron Caesar, whose "numerology number" came out to 666. Numerology was a Jewish form of divination (predicting the future) that the Romans would have known nothing about.

Yes, Josh, the Catholic Church never thought they would be accused of being the beast because they knew the beast was Emperor Nero.

The Catholic Church never thought that anyone would be so stupid to think the Catholic Church was the beast.

I don't see the beast being the Catholic Church. But many people do. I can't say if they thought that they were the beast or not. I know thanks to the Niacine Councel (excuse my spelling of it) that we have the great King James Version of the Bible. They tried to translate it as accurately as possible.

Actually technically I'm the beast in revelation - but I haven't got around to any form of destruction yet. I'm enjoying my whoreish ways far too much.
