just living burns calories (which is a relief). A man will burn about 1800-2000 cal a day just doing normal activities while a woman will burn about 1600-1800. to lose weight it is true that you need to burn more calories in a day than you consume. so you could just eat less or you could eat a healthy amount and exercize (latter is the better choice :D).so if you are a man, 14000 cal a week is not at all unreasonable, but if you want to lose weight you must ramp up the activity level. not only will this help you shed unwanted weight while still allowing your body to obtain all the nutrition it needs but it will also help your body to become stronger.
for extra info and even a way to track your food intake and activity level try a site like sparkpeople.com. it's free and has all the resources you need to he educated, healthy, and the weight you want.
all the best!

Wow, that would mean that you will be gaining weight and not losing! Yes, you need to burn (consume) more calories than what you get in (through food, colas, juices etc.) to lose weight since the body converts the stores of fat (and muscle) to produce the energy that is needed.
If you take 2000 calories a day, that would be 14000 calories a week. You need to work out and consume (burn) about 15000 - 16000 calories so that body is forced to consume its energy reserves.

Try this online calorie calculator: http://www.stevenscreek.com/goodies/calories.shtml
Do more cardio such as running or swimming consistently, keep a healthy diet. Avoid sugary stuff, soft drinks and junk food. Skipping meals is not healthy, instead you become more immune to diseases and your weight becomes unstable. Try not to weigh yourself too often, since your weight varies throughout the day. Keep in mind that your body can only lose 1 kg a week at best. If you lose more then your body is likely to be losing muscle or hydration level as well.

I think it's too much work for you. You should be having fun while losing weight. It defeats it even though it is logical. I used back-door approaches like meditation, visualization and hypnosis, in addition to exercises and low caloric intake, to help make it easier for me and avoid frustration.
I hope it works for you too.
