regarding this kind of dietary habit , vegetarian nutrition does not provide some elements needed for raising haemoglobin rate, therefore she can depend on some vegetables containing high levels of ferrous , but to impose the ferrous ( iron ) into the metabolic activity of the body; we need a companion factor that facilitates and activates absorption of the iron which is ( Folic Acid - B8 ), i think she can continue her habit in addition to taking a combination of ( ferro - folic acid ) which is greatly provide the essentials for raising haemoglobin rate, in the end i wish her getting healthy.

I have low haemoglobin. i recommend the following.
-Spinach.
- rocket (the one they use in sometimes in salads)
-Also, there is a vegeterian food called in arabic "molokheyah" which is extremly good. I don't know its name in English, and I remember it was not available in London during my stay there.
- Avoid drinking tea right after a meal, cause it prevents the body from absorbing the iron (which is essential for haemoglobin).

Foods rich in iron, like leafy green vegetables. Also try some acidic foods in conjunction. It helps the body to absorb the iron. Spinach salad with tomatoes and red onions is a good example.

I am not sure if you can get these herbs --> Boerhaavia diffusa or Aloe vera.
Go for a well-balanced diet rich in iron, sesame seeds, almonds, dairy products, animal protein, vegetables as beet, lettuce, spinach, soyabean, radish, carrots, tomatoes and fresh fruits as banana, black berries, strawberries, apple, amla, plum. Enjoy sun-bathing as the sunlight stimulates the production of red blood cells.

I would advise that her doctor recommend a dietitian for her to talk to. They are trained in how to compensate for various medical conditions with diet. The dietitian should work with your niece and her doctor to come up with the best diet for her, taking into consideration her vegetarianism.
