fish is an excellent protein. it has lots of essential fatty acids and is very low in calorie content. I prefer white fish just because they tend to be flakier and lighter, which is great for summer. but tuna (not albacore- which has high levels of mercury) makes a easy and flavorful sandwich or snack.
as for fish oil pills it might just be better to eat the fish to get the oils. america is obsessed with nutrition via pill form, but researchers are not actually sure how effective pills are. now, they are not going to hurt (unless taken in radical amounts) but you will get the most benefit getting the fatty acids the natural way. other components in the fish will help your body better absorb what you need.
another tip is to eat foods rich in vitamins D, E, A, or K while eating fish. these vitamins are all fat-soluble and so cannot get absorbed without fat. fish's fatty acids makes it easy far your body to get these important vitamins (they help your skin, teeth, vision, etc.). these vitamins can be found in colorful or leafy, green vegetables such as spinach or carrots.
Best wishes!

Yes, even if you are on a low-fat diet, the fats in fish are highly unsaturated and are rich in omega 3 fatty acids etc. So, unless you are on a total detox diet (esp. for heavy metals), it should be OK.

Check the source of the fish or fish oil to mimimise heavy metal contamination.
