Go to your local library and find books on dog training. There are some really great books available and you will be inspired to try more training tricks and learn the techniques to help you along. You will have fun and your dog will thank you for the mental stimulation. If you are really keen, Tomson Education Direct has a great dog trainers course (which I have done).
I hope you and your mate have fun!!

Depending on the type of dog... most dogs can be taught to do just about anything with patience, persistence, repetition and lots of praise! :) What I would suggest is if you want to train your dog to do more, get a book or a video. They are a great way to learn how to teach your dog new tricks. You will find they are eager to please... but they are like little kids learning something new. They need to repeat it, need lots of praise when they get it right (and usually a treat), and they need lots of patience. Good luck!

I took our lab "Solomon" to obedience classes; also, Baron - a huge black lab. They loved learning. My husband & I took them downtown & lots of places as part of their training. It was fun 4 everyone. They never forgot what they learned & did well everywhere we went.
