everything posted already is golden.

the one thing you must not forget is to always be aware of your surroundings. crime can and will occur in any neighborhood, rich or poor. do not stare up at the skyscrapers, do not look at any map while on street level, try to wear clothing that isnt more than a year old (we can spot a tourist a mile away), if with a group, dont walk more than two across on the sidewalk, dont spend alot in times square you will find the same stuff everywhere else, but cheaper.

dont be afraid either, we can smell weakness and predators prey on such. just be confidant, but not cocky. be aware, but not paranoid. keep your money anywhere else but your wallet or purse.

oh yea, and have a good time too

Comfortable shoes are a must we do a lot of walking here. The metroplotian museum of art and the museum of natural history both are voluntary donations for admission, Take a walk across central park from one to the other. Friday nights the Whitney museum has a pay what you wish addmission policy, Museum of Modern art is free fri nites as is the morgan library. The cirlce line is a fun cruise around manhattan. 4th of july fireworks are visible along the east river and lower manhattan, gets real crowded. As for traps for tourists, DO NOT buy stuff from african street vendors they sell crummy knockoffs. My favorite touristy thing to do is to hire a bicycle cab and have them drive me thru times square at night.
Enjoy your visit

Enjoy but just be careful. NYC is safer today than it has been for the last 300 years. Armies of police officers patrol the streets. If you use your common sense, you will have a safe trip.
