I'll answer your question with a question:
Have you taken pain killers
If you had cancer would you accept chemotherapy?
None of these are possible without animal testing. This occurs on animals which are specially bred in labs and have no knowledge of the outside world. We owe a debt of gratitude to them!

i am for it to an extent. alhough now we have stem cell cloning and stuff, we still need to make sure that the drug is safe for human consumption. Some of us claim that the drugs will have to go on human trials anyway, then whats the point? what would you think if you are given a drug that no one has any idea of the damage it will bring? The animal testing that is done before the clinical trial serves as a filter and lessen the likely risks.
Furthermore, most animals that are being tested (eg rats) are being breed and grown in a lab for the prupose of studying or testing. Its not that we're disrupting the food chain or killing a population or whatever.
and the question's asking for MEDICINAL animal testing which obviously benefits the community to a large extent. I am pretty sure animal testing has saved millions of lives each and every year to increase our quality of life. Anyway I do respect people who are against them.

I for it to a certain point. I much rather have a new drug tested on a rat, or a lab mouse than one of my future children taking it. Then finding out that they died in their sleep because of a flaw or risk that the researchers didn`t bother looking for. I`m not saying go stick wires in to puppies and kittens. I just rather have medical treatments test before hand.
Plus most of the people who are so strongly against animal testing don`t realize that the Polio, Tetanus, Hepatitis B shots were tested on pigs long before they were ever given to a human.

As much as I love animals, I must confess that I know some of the medical progress that have been going on especially the last twenty years in neurobiology would not have made possible without the use of animals in research. I think that there are too many abuses though. Those must be stopped and the ones committing them severely prosecuted.

well, i'm for testing medicines on animals, and really everyone is. I mean, if you were against animal testing, but you had, well, any form of illness at all, would you refuse treatment and die because the medicines had been tested on animals? probably not, you would accept the treatment.
It is not just humans that these animals are benefiting, either, as all vetinary medicines also have to be tested on other animals first.
What i am against is testing cosmetics and bleaches on animals, but testing medicines on them is fine, after all, i would rather have my cough medicine, or whatever, tested on animals, than not have it at all.

i am for it
the drug companies need to go through the first stages of animal testing before human testing to make sure that the drug wont kill those people that are being tested.
everyone that says they are against it i would ask them for a better way to do this. or simply volunteer to have the drug tested on urself. then u would realise that ur life is more important than an animal's

It is essential for the development of new drugs. The opposition to animal testing is like the antiabortionist, preferring animals over man.

Depends on what the research is for and what sort of animals were being used. If the animals were paedophiles then carry on as this is the only thing they are good for.
