I just came back from a trip to China. It is a very interesting country. First you have to understand that it is a vast country. So different areas of the country are very diffferent in weather, people, modernization, and even language. There is cities like Shangai that are super modern and except for the language and food is just like being in a big city of the United STates. Beijing for example is a big city but it kinds of reminds me as the way cities were in the U.S. 10 years ago.
Other smaller regions are like stepping back in time 50 or 60 years. China is a country very rich in tradition and culture. It is modernizing quickly too. There is so many things I can say about China, but I will be writing for hours. I really want to make another trip to experience a little more of the culture.

The greater part of the country is mountainous. Its principal ranges are the Tien Shan, the Kunlun chain, and the Trans-Himalaya. In the southwest is Tibet, which China annexed in 1950. The Gobi Desert lies to the north. China proper consists of three great river systems: the Yellow River (Huang He), 2,109 mi (5,464 km) long; the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang), the third-longest river in the world at 2,432 mi (6,300 km); and the Pearl River (Zhu Jiang), 848 mi (2,197 km) long.
The earliest recorded human settlements in what is today called China were discovered in the Huang He basin and date from about 5000 B.C. During the Shang dynasty (1500–1000 B.C.), the precursor of modern China's ideographic writing system developed, allowing the emerging feudal states of the era to achieve an advanced stage of civilization, rivaling in sophistication any society found at the time in Europe, the Middle East, or the Americas. It was following this initial flourishing of civilization, in a period known as the Chou dynasty (1122–249 B.C.), that Lao-tse, Confucius, Mo Ti, and Mencius laid the foundation of Chinese philosophical thought.

The new buildings are like paper cut-outs of what they see in pictures. Once you go inside, you realize they didn't look at the inside of the photo.
The people are dressed up and trying to show how modern and affluent they are, but their mentalities are still the same as they were 50 years ago.
The villagers are still the way they were 50 years ago except they all have TVs now.
Everyone is mad because of the guy who has more than they do.

China is a nation of "face."
Recently, Chinese censors cut about 10 minutes of the actor Chow-Yun-fat's part in the film 'Pirates of the Caribbean.' The officical Xinhua News Agency claimed it "vilifies and defaces the Chinese" - a Chinese magazine Popular Cinema also said: "His image is still in line with Hollywood's old tradition of demonizing the Chinese." Chow Yun-fat's role is that of a pirate, who welcomes his fellow pirates to Singapore. Most people accept Walt Disney films for what they are - children's adventure stories.
The real truth about piracy still exists, since pirated, uncut versions of the latest (Hollywood and beyond) movies can easily be found on the street for around USD $1.
