There are buses to Byron.

Nimbin is nearby.

There is a haunted cemetary in Lismore that attracted lots of attention a few years back with a glowing headstone. Unfortunately it has been stolen. But it may be a point of interest if you like the paranormal like me.

Mullumbimby is a quaint little country town near Byron Bay, but without the tourist population!

There are plenty of national parks around. Minyon falls near Repentance Creek is worth a trip as is the Uki pub with access to Mt Warning. If the Channon markets are on, (one Sunday a month) it is worth the trip. If you are here on November 10th, go to the Tabulam Picnic Races - a great day out. Apart from Byron Bay, there are beautiful beaches all along the coast at Brunswick Heads, Evans Head, Ballina, Lennox Head etc. Nimbin is tacky and not worth the trip unless you like dirty people trying to sell you marijuana. Byron Bay township is like Nimbin's seaside suburb but the Cape and the Lighthouse are worth visiting.

Generally, anywhere you go is good value. There is spectacular scenery in all directions and the climate is wonderful all year. It is a bit cool first thing in the morning at the moment but it warms up quickly.
