Hi, Do you have a plastic feeding bowl for you pet? If so change to a steel or ceramic bowl this will stop him from licking the bowl. The plastic bowl will leave food in the pores and they will lick it because of this. Just change his bowl. Lol.

Your dog either still tastes the food on the bowl or might want to be fed some more? Nothing wrong with that, just either give your dog more food or take the bowl away and clean it..

He probably enjoyed his food and is lapping up all traces of it.If he keeps going back to the bowl and nudging it with his nose looking for more food, it might be worth giving him a little more. You need to be careful that you don't over feed him though. Also, try giving him a chew after his meal. Then wash the bowl out as he's eating the chew.

Um... why is it a problem that he is licking his food bowl? Doesn't seem that bad to me. It's not bad if he licks anywhere else either - my female dog does it... they just like to keep clean.

How cute. He's most probably just savoring every bit of it.

I personally wouldn't do anything. I'd actually get a camera and video tape that cute furry thing.

If it gets out of hand and is weird, you can always try changing the bowl (perhaps?).

All my dog's lick their bowl after they've eaten then they all swap bowls and lick each others.

It's not a problem, just a sign that he has enjoyed his grub.

Remove bowl and wave finger in air and say in authorititive but gentle vocal tone "no naughty" dogs do understand so much so it will learn, my mum has to do the same with me at mealtimes.

squeeze a tube of toothpaste onto its nose everytime it licks the bowl. It'll soon find something else to lick...
