As I understand u can measure ur spiritual progress when u learn to think and act in larger interest. Just to quote holy christ " A person who has not committed any sin can throw a stone on a slandered woman" This line I heard on TV as I am not christian and do not go to church but I respect christ also. This is the sign of spiritually developed person who can solve any problem thru his developed mind and quite rationally also. When u learn to handle life objectively then u can say that u ve made spiritual progress otherwise u remain self centred. U respect ur own words and live upto them come what may. When some other persons does what u think is right for u i.e. ur parallel temperament, if u accept that person then u r spiritually developed.

In one sense, yes. If you are not making spiritual progress, you are back-sliding. In the Christian faith, the spiritual life is walking a narrow path; it's also likened to a race. It's not sitting in Byway Meadow smelling the roses.

If you have begun to live spiritually (which means being born again by the Holy Spirit) you will become a different person - a better person - and all the glory will go to God for that. It takes time; a life-time! The apostle Paul spoke of being babes in Christ, requiring the milk of the Word, then growing to maturity, being able to digest the meat of the Word. Consider what you were like when you were born again, see if there's improvement / progress / maturity. If not, you're probably not feeding on God's Word enough, or praying enough, or worshipping and fellowshiping with Christians enough. If you are doing all those things but still doubt if you're making progress, seek God in earnest prayer, for him to reveal what the problem is. It's likely some sin you need to face up to. Awareness of just how hideous our sin is to our holy God is a real mark of spiritual maturity.

My friend, spiritual progress is not something that can be measured. It is a continual journey and everything in this journey is in a continual state of flux. Maybe a guru may know how much one has evolved but even he will not measure one person against another." He is better than.." This is a personal journey and not a race to win ahead of others. People who think so are never in the journey at all. And there is no end, where people are holding a tape. There are no people cheering and clapping. This is not about heroics. It is a journey to Divine Awareness and that is a noble purpose in itself. In fact, it is the NOBLEST purpose in life.

Honestly ... No !
Spirituality is about going beyond Nature. Now , we perceive nature at the sensory level (basically), and perhaps a bit deeper at times (due to the deepening of our capability of perception beyond sensory levels), which could be a small measure of our perceptional capabilities, but till a person reaches some point or level, traditionally recognised with some kind of Siddhis, no way to measure it. Again, these siddhis are prone to get us 'stuck' at that level where we could 'stagnate' for a while (how long, ... is very relative !). And, a true Master, would never reveal the measure of progress of his disciple(in the disciple's own interest).
The subtle levels of progress(deep within, not the gross capabilities), are hardly noticeable !

When after studying the Bible you understand the basic truths of who God is?(Psalms 83:18) and who Jesus is? (Proverbs 8:22-31, Col 1:15-17, Rev 3:14) and what his plans for man and the earth are (Mathew 6:9,10, Daniel 2:44, Revelation 21:3,4) and sound these truths down into your figurative heart and start doing the commands of Jesus at Mathew 28: 18,19,20. You start at John 17:3 and ask questions because everything you have assumed in life needs to be tested. To understand that you need truth to progress is the first key, for all scripture is inspired of God, see 2 Tim 3:16
Any questions? feel free to ask. Ask yourself if you really believe the bible is the word of God?First.

With your "spiritual progress" stick.

Similar to the talking stick, it gauges the maturity level of your soul. Really immature souls ended up in this century, so most people here and now have very short sticks.

Spirituality is not a matter to be measured. It is to be assed and the assessor is none but 'oneself i.e. I '. I know my continuiety in daily devotion/penance, fulfilment of obligatory and routine duties honestly, love and care for family, friends, relatives, members of society/public. National Integration and faith in my religion and diety. My study of scriptures and their application in practical life with modern changes and adjustments. Love to all and no even the slightest sentiment of hatred in any corner of the heart for anybody. On can assess it by daily diary, etc. and by reading character-sketches of saints.

Yes - the less rational thinking you do, the more "spiritual progress" you're making...though regress is a more accurate term.

"Spiritual progress" is another term for "letting others control me" - is that really what you want?

Your morals clean up, the more you apply God's instruction: your language; conduct; thoughts; associates; and habits will, too, with much prayer and even help from fellow believers who know how to guide from God's Word.
