Day to day global events just frighten me more and more everyday. Many speak of global catastrophe in 2012. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I personally welcome the "End Times". While all the religious peoples are fighting and praying, I'll be doing a bit of looting, plundering, pillaging, and watching the 10 o'clock news to keep a running list of newly open places to commit the aforementioned activities!

Nawwww, they've been predicting the end of the world since the dawn of recorded history. And, so far, they've all been wrong!

Remember too, TV, radio and the Internet are in our faces every minute with the worst news. And the stupid news media are creating a totally stressed out world by ONLY telling us all the horrendous, terrifying news because they think that "sells" better than fluff. They're wrong.

If they made a sincere effort to tell us good, happy, funny, heartwarming news MUCH more often, people would subscribe to it, the stress level of human beings would reduce considerably, and the end of the world would be pushed forward into the future.

So you could say the poor world is going to hell, but maybe all these events have been going on for centuries but we weren't able to access ALL the information on global disasters until the past few years. Now we can and do.

They freaked the whole blasted planet out over Y2K when the new century came in. Everyone woke up next morning, yawned, scratched and went and made coffee. Nothing happened! Perhaps we'll be doing the same morning routine on January 1/2012. Cross your fingers.

I think we're going down soon. Since the dawn of time we've been doing stupid things because we're human, but the things happening lately are far too much. If you were to look at a series of the events, you might even see some kind of a pattern. Isn't there something in the bible about how things'll just get worse until the day comes and all the innocents are spirited away before hand, then the non-innocents make a choice? And about that 2012 thing, it was a Maya prediction, December 22 I think, I'm having an early Christmass party...but anyway, the signs are all around us that we're coming to an end, I for one am oozing self pitty that I'm only 16 and oozing pitty for my niece who is only a few months old that she has to grow up in this hell on earth we've created, there's no denying what humans have done, I think we've done more than enough already and I just hope if I'm alive when the world ends, that my death is quick.

I've heard about a lot of that 2012 stuff, but I don't buy into it. I think it's up to us whenever we go extinct or not. Asteroids? I'm pretty sure we have the technology to deflect one if we saw it coming. Global Warming? We can reverse it if we start trying really hard. Nuclear war? No one's going to start a full-scale one because you'd lose more than you'd win. Plague? I'm pretty sure someone would find a cure. Some spacey thing like a nova? Odds are pretty low. Act of God? I dunno, maybe. Still yet though, in most belief systems that have God, he only destroys some certain things, and then everything is kind of reborn better than before.

Now is the Time to create an environment of Love and Trust, not Hate and Fear. If we must go, go with your Soul light, and your Head high!

From the "Thirteenth Warrior"

"The All-Father wove the skein of your Life long ago"

"Take Heart little Brother, Fear profits a Man nothing"

"Lo, there do I see my Father, there do I see my Mother, there do I see my Brothers, and my Sisters, there do I see the Line of my People, back to the Beginning! They Call to me, and bid me take my place among them""

The Mayan, Norse, Celtic, and other prophetic writings point to the beginning of a New World, not the End of Everything-

You reference the Mayan Calendar. I am more concerned with a sooner possibility based on the recent re-forming of the San hedrin, extinct for 2000 years--and the recent letters to 70 world leaders requesting that animal sacrifice begin again on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

I am pissed off today. Some moron has been shooting the birds in my garden and I am looking for somone to unload on and you are it. What a ******* load of crap .Any one that believes that the world is going to end in 2012 is a fruitcake. Global catastrophe is the favorite prediction of every phoney nutcase that ever picked up the bible. Anyone that wants to predict the end of the world in 2012 should be registered with the government and then shot on January 1 2013 along with any moron that thinks shooting tame songbirds is sport.

Yeah, I've been hearing that for decades.... I'm still waiting for man to figure out how to pull that one off.

You know man is been working on how to manipulate mother nature in order to prevent natural catastrophes. Man must be horrified that if he doesn't figure out a way to stop these global catastrophes, Jesus will come back.... (so they say) and then the world shall surely come to an end..... because man still hasn't figured out how to end the world while proving that Jesus is really coming back because all this has to match and make sense along with all these world catastrophes!
So when is man going to end the world because he still hasn't managed to stop these catastrophes... and the world must come to an end because nothing can last forever.... and ALL the signs of the end is near..... so Jesus must be coming because of all these world catastrophes......

Nothing can last forever not even earth! There is no way to save this planet! It shall surely be in its last days as the good book says!

What can we do to prepare for the end..... and who is going to heaven....... and who is going to hell...... and what is it going to be like in the next life........ and is that other life going to have an expiration date as well....... and will there be more catastrophes in heaven like another satan being cast out....... and just really long is forever in hell that we have to burn because nothing last forever like this earth that is in its last days because of world catastrophies? The suspense is killing me!!!

Do not be afraid, for these things must come. It means the end of this system of things, and the beginning of what was promised us by Jesus. Rejoice instead, for the time is near when Satan will be dealt with, and we can get on with cleaning up this planet and making it all into an garden like God wanted it to be. This is why it is called the "Good News" not the "Scary, Frightening News." : )

People have been predicting this for centuries - still wrong. Unless some fool like the one currently in the White House goes nuclear, things will just continue to get slowly worse forever, because humans are too stupid to stop over-reproducing and destroying the environment.

Cheery, hmm?
