You will never get a christian to honestly answer that question. Most of them will say that the dinosaurs are a lie created by their devil to lead people away from God. They will never even admitted that dinos existed. Good luck I admire your courage to post this question here.

I will talk from the Vedic(Hindu) point of view.

-""Explain why dinousars existed 65 million years ago and lived on the planet for 160 million years before inexplicably vanishing.""

The Vedas(Hindu Scriptures) explains that Our Earth is about 2.3Billion years old and there are 1,100,000 species of insects and reptiles and As far as quadrupeds are concerned there are 3,000,000 varieties. Some may be or many would have been extinct my now. These could resemble Dinosaurs.

"""Explain why birds you see everyday have been scientifically proven to have come from dinousars due to it's physical characteristics, it's shape and form; which is indisputably identical to these large terrestrial reptiles."""

These are Scientificly assumed or thought off. Scienist believed that Birds evolve from dinosaures. Scientist also has a particular believe system and the whole world has fallen into their trap.

"""Explain the ice age(agricultural revolution) which took place over 6,000 years ago and how is brought about human life. """

The Vedas explain that the last major shift in our planet where many of the living enities destoryed was about 5000years ago, These spawn the next genernation of living beings which includes Human beings who have to restart from primative ways. The world we are living today is known as Kali Yuga(Age of Ignorance) this age started about 5000 years back.

-"""Explain why over 4 million years ago the hominids, homo sapiens, homo habilis, and homo erectus were once existent life forms are utilized as legitimate evidence that we did evolve from these lesser species."""

The Vedas explains that there are forest dwellers who lived alongside civalized Human Beings These forest dwellers are Ape like man but with a lower intelligence. The Epic Ramayana which is said to have happen 1.2 to 1.4million years ago, have numerous Apes within the epic. It goes on to show that these Apes have perished long ago and now scientist finding their bones assumes that we came from them...

A Question of you, if you say man came from apes, than why are there many monkeys, and apes around today ?? why didn't they become Humans ??

Dinosaurs and man were created on day 6 of creation.
God said everything was very good----no death or disease----until Adam sinned. Therefore, dinosaurs could not have lived or died millions of years before this. The fossil evidence does not prove they lived millions of years ago.
That is origins science which tries to explain the past and has to make a lot of guesses about it.
The evidence does fit with the Biblical account of creation.
By the way, the Bible is archealogically accurate.

It's also not proven that birds have evolved from dinosaurs.
Macroevolution is when one organism evolves into a completely different organism over eons of time.-----there are no reliable transitional fossils to support this----all questionable.
(There is reliable proof for microevolution---where there is adaptation within SPECIES)

Also, fossils do not need millions of years to form----thousands of them were found in cambrian rock from all animal phylum------this poses lots of questions to evolutionsts. (And no transitional fossils found among them!)

The debate over the age of the earth has been building since geologists first started dating rock strata and Darwin introduced us to the concept of evolution. Whether it's billions of years old or only a few thousand is a topic that seems to be impossible to come to an agreement on. Most people believe one or the other, completely ignoring all evidence contrary to their beliefs. A few attempts have been made to reconcile the two but rebuttals to the arguments seem to come faster than the theories themselves. I believe the answer to this question lies right there in the first chapter of Genesis and one need only look to the original Hebrew scriptures. "Old earthers" rely on science while ignoring the Bible and "young earthers" blindly stick to the King James Version of the bible while ignoring science. The keys to unlocking this mystery require first, an open mind, and second, a look at what was originally written about creation. I am vehemently opposed to allowing one's personal bias to get in the way of the truth. We must start from the scriptures and learn from them, not bring our own preconceived notions to the scriptures. Every English version of the Bible that I've found has shown signs of personal bias in the translation. No two translations completely agree with each other and even the KJV has been revised several times. If you have ever sat in church trying to follow along with what the pastor is reading and found all the words don't match up it's because you're reading from different "editions" of the KJV. In this essay, I will use the most common edition of the KJV as a reference only. It's the version that is most widely read in the English speaking world and it's also the version that Dr. James Strong used as a reference for his "Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible". Strong's Concordance is considered to be the most accurate resource for Biblical study and is certainly the most widely read. These are the only two references I use in my work unless otherwise noted.

Now, let us start "In the beginning".

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

"In the beginning" comes from the Hebrew word "reshiyth" meaning "first" and the word heaven comes from shamayim meaning "sky", so the first verse should read "First, God created the earth and sky."

Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

In the first sentence, the translations for the words "was", "without form" and "void" are not completely accurate. The Hebrew meanings of these words are:

"was"
hayah meaning become or come to pass

"without form"
tohu meaning to lie waste; a desolation (of surface)

"void"
bohu meaning to be empty; a vacuity, i.e. (superficially) an undistinguishable ruin

In the second sentence, the "Spirit" of God comes from ruach meaning wind and "face" is from paniym meaning "surface.

There are a couple of ways to interpret this verse so I will give both possible translations.

1. The earth became desolate and empty, darkness was over the face of the deep. The wind of God moved over the surface of the waters.
2. It came to pass that the earth was laid waste and ruined, darkness was over the face of the deep. The wind of God moved over the surface of the waters.

As you can see, both versions say the same thing. We'll come back to this after looking at verse 3.

Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

This verse is actually translated pretty accurately, at least close enough that nothing is really lost in the translation. The only reason I even mentioned this verse is because it's important to subject at hand.

Let's put all three verses together and see what the scriptures tell us. I will take the liberty to paraphrase:

First, God created the earth and sky. The earth became a wasteland, desolate, empty and ruined. Darkness covered the surface of the oceans. God caused a wind to blow over the waters.

As we can see, the Hebrew Scriptures paint a different picture than the one we've been taught. If the scientists are right about their old earth theory, then millions (or billions) of years could have passed between the original creation and destruction of the earth. The scriptures do not tell us how much time passed nor the reason for the destruction. Since the details were not given to us, we can only speculate.

Because of the fossil record and the study of rock strata, scientists believe that the earth is billions of years old and dinosaurs have been extinct for at least millions of years. They very well could be right without compromising the inerrancy of scripture.

The leading scientific theory for the extinction of the dinosaurs is a meteor impact in the Yucatan Peninsula:

"The shock wave from the impact would indeed have triggered massive earthquakes in the region and indirectly triggered other earthquakes around the globe. A tsunami would have formed from the impact, which occurred in a shallow sea. The giant waves would also have been generated by the earthquakes and undersea landslides triggered by the shock wave."

"The dust thrown up by the impact, the soot generated by the firestorms and the smog formed from the oxides of nitrogen and sulfur particles would have blocked sunlight for many months. The surface of the Earth would have plunged to freezing conditions -- typically 70 degrees Fahrenheit below normal -- and photosynthesis would not have been possible, even if plants had survived the fires and acid rain."

This scenario certainly fits the description of the wasteland as depicted in the Hebrew Scriptures. The earth would certainly have become desolate, empty of life and ruined. Darkness would have covered most of the earth. In Genesis 1:2, God caused a wind to blow ridding the planet of the soot and dust particles that caused the darkness giving the earth light once again as seen in Gen 1:3. Once there was light again, the rest of the new creation process could begin.

As you can see, this is an issue that can be laid to rest. Billions of years ago, God created the earth and sky (probably at about the same time as the rest of the cosmos), it was populated with the plants and animals that we now see only as fossils. At some point the earth was destroyed in a great catastrophe, not only causing the extinction of plants and animals but also altering the topography of the earth. Somewhere around 6 to 10 thousand years ago (according to theologians) God "re-terraformed" the planet, created the new plants and animals and, of course, man.

I wouldn't say science has proven that birds come from dinosaurs, there is strong evidence for it.

But yes, it is inexplicable that people believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old. Good thing the earth is a hunk of rock otherwise, If I were her, I'd be pretty pissed that Christians had reduced my natual wonder to 6,000 made by some invisible man in the sky. I just might have to send floods, fires, earthquakes and volcanos to do away with them.

Do you actually know that dinosaurs existed 65 million years ago? Do you know that they lived on the planet for that long? Do you have actual definite proof about the dating of any of this?

The only thing that could even provide some rationality to deciding some of these dates is carbon dating, and that has some of its own problems. Some of them can be seen here:

Being as I am a Christian but am not what is called a young earth creationist I couldn't give you an answer. Just like I have a hard time understanding how chance ( something non active) could create anything, especially out of nothing. By the way Andrew I am an evangelical. Do any of you folks have any idea what the rest of us believe?

Great question..and contrary to popular belief many Christians do not believe this even remotely.
In fact i think its only the Evangelicals who believe this...those who take the bible literally word for word and have really no theological support for their arguments and their faith is absoultly flawed and founded in ignorance.
Catholics in particular acknowledge Darwin's theories and natural selection and just like the rest of the world have found that evolution really is indisputable, but at the same time can coexisted completely peacefully with Church doctrine.

ooooooooooooookay... here we go again. We set up an example for you...

YOU ARE AN ALL-POWERFUL WIZARD!!! WHOOO HOO!!!

You decide that you are a HUNGRY all-powerful wizard. You choose to create a bowlful of chili to eat to satisfy that hunger.... and...

**POOF** A bowlful of chili appears before you, complete with spoon and maybe some crackers on the top. (Unsalted, of course, too much salt is not good for you!)

Two minutes later, Mr. Science comes along and says, "Hey, can I test that bowl of chili, Mr. Wizard?" You say, "Sure, that's fine by me." So Mr. Science takes the bowl and puts it through all his tests and the results come back from the lab.

Mr. Science reads the results, starts "uh-huh-ing" and then starts to look puzzled. "What up, Mr. Science" you ask him.

He replies, "Well, I see the chili is made up of beans, meat, tomato sauce, some spices, and the saltines on top were a nice touch." You wink, acknowledging it was a good thing and tasted terrific, too. "But," he queries, "our aging test tells me that the chili is 6 BILLION YEARS OLD!!! HOW can this be???? You created that chili not two minutes before I asked to test it."

You, the all-powerful, all-wise wizard you are sit there smiling at him and his bewilderment... and you are bemused.

"Our testing equipment works just fine. We reviewed it over and over again. The conclusion is correct and factual but how can this BE????" Mr. Science is clueless.

"Your tests are very correct, AND your observation is correct also. But you seem to forget one thing."

"What's that?"

"When I created the bowlful of chili, I created it ALREADY 6 BILLION years old."

"HUH???"

"What? Got a problem with that? Don't forget, I AM THE ALL-powerful wizard, right? If I am the all-powerful wizard, then why can't I create an already-aged bowlful of chili? In fact, just like wine, and cheese, I find a nicely aged bowlful of chili quite tasty!"

Mr. Science just stares at his test results, at the chili, at Mr. Wizard, shakes his head, and walks away muttering to himself.

Conclusion: God is all-powerful. He created "creation" as He saw fit to do. How can you say that it is impossible for Him to create that creation "already aged" at the moment of its creation? Aren't you then LIMITING the power of the infinite God? I suggest you don't limit Him... and... you might just stop trying to understand the INFINITE God through your FINITE human understanding.

I am not claiming the earthis 6000 years old. However i have no idea how old it really is and neither does anyone else. Many scienists have projected numbers that vary in the tens and hundreds of millions of years. Doesn't sound like an exact science to be honest with you.

Why do you direct this question to All christians? There are only a few out there who actually believe this to be true. Most christians though have the capacity and the understanding of the Bible, that when the good Book tells us about a Day, it rarely is speaking of a twenty four hour period.
