I agree with a lot of the others. You have not forgiven yourself yet. Nobody is harder on a person than that person their self. God forgives freely and forgets your sin. But we still feel guilty so we think that it is God. If you truly were sorry and you asked God for forgiveness then except that He has forgiven you. You might not be able to forget it easily, but I think that is because you still feel bad at what ever it was that you did. Learn from it, and it will help you not to do it again.

It sounds like you are still feeling afraid that you have not been forgiven. Go to confession with a priest. That is the difference between confessing on your own and sacramental confession. In sacramental confession, the priest, in persona christi, absolves you of your sin. That means, you know for sure that you are forgiven. Then, as the others said, it is also important to forgive yourself and begin life again.

I have had this same thing happen to me. I was told that Satan keeps putting these thoughts in our head...it's his way of reminding us of how imperfect we are....trying to make us lose hope. It's like he thinks if he gets us down enough, we'll just give up and submit to him! Please realize that if you have genuinely asked the Lord for forgiveness...YOU ARE FORGIVEN!! You just haven't forgiven yourself yet....try to stay strong....God has forgiven you....just work on forgiving yourself now. He loves you and forgives. Let me know if you need anything, sweetie.

Being forgiven isn't about how you feel. It's about taking the right steps to be forgiven, then believing that the transaction is accomplished. Too many people worry about "feeling" saved and "feeling" forgiven. Instead you need to "know" you're saved and "know" you're forgiven.

Did you know?
The Bible says "His mercies are renewed every morning."
"He casts your sins into the sea of forgetfulness to be remembered no more."
God not only forgives your sins, but he forgets them as well.
IF GOD HAS FORGIVEN YOU, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO CONDEMN YOURSELF.
GOD IS THE ULTIMATE AUTHORITY, AND BASED ON INFINITE RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUSTICE---GOD HAS FORGIVEN YOU.
Jesus paid the price for your sins, and you have no right to hold on to guilt over the sins he died for.
Once you have named those sins to God as in 1st John 1:9 you have no right to condemn yourself anymore.
I pray for peace in your soul.

God does not convict...He encourages. Satan convicts you...because He wants you to feel unforgiven. Any time you have feelings of being convicted it is probably because Satan is hitting you back for having enough faith to confess your sin to God.

Forgive yourself. God is not making you feel guilty, He forgave you, so YOU have to forgive yourself, and stop feeling guilty about it. We are human after all.

Whatever your sin is, you have to let go of it. Lay your problems at the feet of Jesus.
