Hmmm... Well not really wisdom, but man does have this...
Genesis 2:7 "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
Something no other being posesses.

Since humans were to have evolved from apes that makes sense. Ya would hope that in the evolution process things would move forward and not backwards - but intelligence doesn't have a lot to do with chess, 5yr olds can play chess better than adults can - its a game, so I disagree with ya statement.

I'm extremely intelligent and I can't play chess to save my life.
How do you explain Gary Kasparov's achievement at chess even though he was an athiest soviet?
(By the way, I have absolutely no idea if Kasparov was an athiest or not, but I've seen so many Christians here who think that everyone in the USSR was an athiest, so this should be a killer argument. Don't tell them though. I read somwhere that Christians can't read inside parentheses.)

If man is so smart, how come we cannot use our sense of smell to ascertain the presence of food or danger?
Why can we not see for more than a few hundred yards?
Why can we only hear such a narrow range of frequencies?
Why can we hold our breath for less than 2 minutes?
Why are we so slow?
Why do we develop back problems so often?
Why are we allergic to poison ivy when most animals are not?
We all have evolved to provide what we need to survive in this environment. Chess is an outgrowth of this, just like playing "fetch" is an outgrowth on the hunting instincts of dogs.

My neighbor can't play chess either. Does that make him an Ape? Wisdom comes from experience. Wisdom and intellect are not synonomous. Intellect comes from one's initiative to learn. Just like some apes can speak sign language, some (not all) monotheist and polytheists refuse to take the initiative to educate themselves on even the smallest matters.

Agree
Animals are smart and God made them that way .. they are each made according to their own " kind"
BUT MAN.. ..man is NOT made according to the animals' kind but According to GOD'S KIND
God said let US make man in OUR own image according to our likeness and let them have dominion....
We are God's Kind..
so the word "mankind" is not really a positive word when u think about it..
after the fall man did not live according to God but according to himself instead..
man is supposed to be Godkind not mankind...
but in time the Lord made a way through His first coming to bring us back to being God's kind...when we are saved we are regenerated with God's Divine Life ..making us children of God and have been made to be partakers of the divine nature
So we can be so thankful and praise God for all that He has done for us in Christ Jesus

The ape's inability to play chess hardly proves the existence of your god. That's just silly!

Because humans evolved the mental capacity necessary for more complex reasoning. Apes still have problem solving and analytical skills, but their minds are not advanced enough for complex reasoning. Much like the typical Christian.

Becuase maybe they are more focused on keeping their species in existence, rather than playing a completely ridiculous game of moving pieces of plastic back and forth for and ego lift. Man has inteligence, but not wisdom, we have destroyed the world beyond repairing, we are abusers of our gifts because we are selfish and ignorant.

Just because you say they are intelligent does not mean they will be able to play chess. There are different levels of intelligence. Not all humans are smart enough to play chess, sad as it may be. I do not beleive intelligence is a "gift from god" I am agnostic, so i do not quite beleive something like that. I am a bigger beleiver in evolution.

yes, but man is the only creature that has the imagination to imagine a huge invisable being that lives in the sky...
i'm not an athiest...or a christian...but just playing devils advocate there
it just shows how another conservative wants to bash evolution, but knows nothing about it
