If you go through my questions, you'll find that I ask a lot of questions to prompt discussions and reasoned responses. I often and praised for asking the questions I ask, from both Atheists and Believers. By putting forth such a blanket statement, you are painting Atheists as somehow poor sports. Asking a question about something that makes no sense is simply effort to ask people to be reasonable.

I am an Atheist, and if I'm asking a question about christianity, I'm asking about either the religion itself or about faith...and I take the asnwers seriously and apply them to what I believe, if the answers are just an attempt to convert me so they can seem like a good christian in front of the internet public then I ignore them and go on with my day.

I don't know....ask a Christian who posts a question directed at atheists, when they think they already know the answer and won't believe what the atheists say.

Its a two way street, everyone does it. Its pretty childish. They are just baiting, looking to stir up trouble. Often people post rants and propaganda under the guise of a genuine question or answer just so that they get to say what they want to say, regardless of whether it is polite or proper to do so.

This forum is for the exchange of ideas etc, but a large majority of the people here just want to push their own agenda. They want to mouth off, but are to chicken to stand up for what they believe in public, so they do it in cyberspace where they don't have to take the reprecussions of their actions.

I have a better question. Why don't the atheists and Christians get a life and quit trying to debate each other on Yahoo! Answers? Hmm??? What is wrong with them that they have nothing better to do? Shouldn't the Christians be out praying and the Atheists be out doing whatever the hell they do?

Mostly to bate Christians. Some due it because they believe they have a superior intellect and that they are toying with children who are too unsophisticated to get it. Actually there are others here I would enjoy a long conversation with because I believe they are intelligent and have enough respect for the person they are talking to to be worth spending the time with.

People that do that are argumentative. Most naturally they already have their accepted answer in their mind and just want to set you up in hopes of confusing you or proving you wrong by pointing out unimportant details in your answer.

How do you know they know they won't believe? Perhaps they are expecting to be blown away by an incredibly insightful answer. Or perhaps they are simply challenging ideas. Or perhaps another reason entirely. Whatever the reason, why does it bother you?
