I just read this answer to a question about faith healing:

"Lots of reasons why people aren't healed
some people don't have the faith to be healed
some people are still in a sin that has them sick
sometimes God allow sickness for a reason
we all have to die of something"

What other options are there? I find it fascinating that no matter what the subject is, there is always some kind of religious excuse.

Kind of like how there is absolutely NO DNA evidence to prove native Americans are descended from the middle east. In fact, DNA evidence proves they AREN'T from there. But mormons can use the excuse that "god changed their DNA". What a load of crap!

I liked the "god's will" answer. so true.

another is that religious people love to quote you stuff from their books. they can find a rationale for anything in there.

everyone else should begin to quote things from other books. i'm going to start quoting from the phone book or something...

At a recent meeting of the Association of Orthodox Jewish scientists and the Columbia Center for the Study of Science and Religion, it became clear that Jewish curiosity has provided sufficient genetic material to give a perfectly clear negative answer: There is no support in the genomes of today's Jews for the calumnious and calamitous model of biological Judaism. Though there are many deleterious versions of genes shared within the Ashkenazic community, there are no DNA sequences common to all Jews and absent from all non-Jews. There is nothing in the human genome that makes or diagnoses a person as a Jew.

If there is no genetic marker that can identify a person as a Jew, exactly what DNA evidence we should be looking for to test the hypothesis that a tiny handful of Hebrew people entered the Americas in 600 B.C.?

"Do religious people have an excuse for everything?"
Not necessarily. Religion was created by man, so there are religious explainations for lots of things from followers from different faiths. Furthermore, lots of explainations for why things exist are made by humans. Just like religion, race is also an excuse.*

"What other options are there?"
There are various options, including simply believing in one God without adhering to any particular faith, Atheism, Agnosticsm, Animism, Post Modernism/New Age(lol, this one is cool), Deism, Polydeism, Mysticism, Spiritualism and Transcendentalism, among others.

Religion, quintessentially, is an illustration of systematic, ideal beliefs created by man, not the Creator.

"Race" is, infact, a modern social concept. Ancient societies divided people according to religion and other social classes (including language). Concepts of race AND religion helped explain away/justify excuses of why some people were denied rights and freedoms. Throughout history, concepts of race and religion divided (and, in certain aspects, still does divide) society. Religion and race justified social inequalities as natural.

Concepts of religion, race, ethnic cleansing and genocide were carefully planned. Justifications for these concepts became reality and create division.

I'm NOT Religious! I'm a Christian - I have my Faith in Jesus and the Word of God - The Bible!

I've been prayed for a 'few' times in my life. I've been Heeled of Ovarian Cancer! I lived through Bi-lateral Breast Cancer that was both Extreemly Agressive and Inflamitory - I was stage 3 when they found it! I was stage 4 by the time treetment was started when I was only 32!

Today I am Cancer-Free! PTL! I did have Major surgery! I had a Bi-Lateral Radical Mastectomy and a Bi-Lateral Tram Flap Reconstruction - Which my Husband - Loves!

I was prayed for when I broke my back and when my back was broken by my EX husband! As a result of 'That' I am today in a Power Chair and can walk for a short time in my home, but Not for Long. When I go 'Out' I have to have my chair! What put me in the chair was Zyprexa (which I am working with my attornies to GET IT OFF THE MARKET!!!!) Zyprexa gave me life-threatning siezures and gave me neurological damage (which I needed like a hole in my head!).

I've been prayed for much with 'That' and still can not walk 'Normal' like everyone else - Oh Well. PTL!

I don't 'Make' Excuses! I'm Greatful for my life today! Other than being in a Chair and being physically challenged with 'some' pain! - We have A 'Very healthy Blood Pressure and A Very Healthy Collestrol! Wow!

Today I am married to a Wonderful Loving Man! I am so Blessed! My children love him along with the rest of my family! He has NEVER gone out on me! He does not Beat me! He Has NEVER abused me in ANY way! I am married to MY BEST FRIEND! I AM TRULY BLESSED OF GOD!

I am not at all bitter and I do not blame God or anyone but my EX for my condition today. I do live in Constant Pain - but, I have learned to live with it!

God answers many but, not All of my prayers to him. It is ALL in HIS time! God IS SOO GOOOD TO US AS A COUPLE AND FAMILY AND INDIVIDUALLY! WOW! What a MIGHTY God we searve!

My life may not be 'Perfect' But, I Praise the Lord for Everything I have, My Husband, My Family and all of My Friends! I live in a very nice home - and, we are soon to move to a much better situation than we are in right now!

I feel in my heart that, Rapture is soon! I Look Forward to That and the Blessings that Are Promised and will Happened from the Bible!

As far as what you said about the Mormons - Thank You I agree with you 100000000000%! Thank You!

Be At Peace - Accept God's Grace!

Take Care and God Bless!

Yes they do, and it sucks.

- People that have bad things happen - it's cause they didn't have enough faith - they didn't pray hard enough - their testimony wasn't strong enough

- People that have good things happen - They are blessed for being so righteous.

What a crock. This is the kind of stuff I heard in the Mormon Inc. church all the time before I found out the truth about it.

No, but religious and Christian don't get them mixed up here, it's like oranges and apples. Religious people might go to church allot and believe , that therefore they will gain access to heaven and Christians are people who have Jesus as not only their Savior ,but also their Lord of their life. To you they look all the same , but not to God . God looks at the heart of a person and because we trust God, that whatever decision He makes for our lives, that it will turn out for our good.

I consider myslef reigious but I don't make excuses for things. Maybe because I was an 'Army Brat' who was told continually there is no excuse from my Dad.

There are many things in life and in the Bible that cannot be explained by us little humans.

All I can say is God is real....

God loves us all...

God wants us all to get along with each other...

God wants us to love him...

and God wants us to love each other.

What's so bad about that?

There's no god, the closest we come to this belief is Nature. Nature rules us all. Disease control is working out what makes nature tick. Believers in God will rationalize anything.
