My girlfriend and I noticed a mole on the back of her thigh that we had not recalled seeing before.
It is one circle, with a smaller, darker, harder, and slighty raised circle inside of it.

See a dermatologist if:
It has an irregular edge
It is bigger than the end of an unsharpened pencil
It is asymmetrical
It is a few different colors
It grows fairly quickly
It has appeared only recently
If it matches any of these, SEE A DERMATOLOGIST IMMEDIATELY.
I had a few of these (irregular shape, asymmetrical, different colors) and I was scared. I saw a dermatologist, and it was nothing. But they're still looking at it.
I wouldn't take any chances at all, and I would see a dermatologist ASAP. Skin cancer, especially melanoma, is a fast killer.

You can go ahead & take your g/f to the doctor or you can wait & watch it. I have several moles on me and I have had my doctor to look at them & he just told me to keep an eye on them, it they start turning colors then I needed to have them rechecked for possible cancer.
Maybe have your g/f ask her mom if she has had this mole since she was born if not if she can recall as to when she may have gotten the mole, if it just popped up then she needs to show it to a doctor ASAP!1

Have it checked out by a dermatologist. That's the only way you'll know. It may need to be removed.

It's ALWAYS best to get it checked out by a doctor. Be sure she gets an appointment.

You can never be too careful when it comes to situations like this. Call your doctor immediately!
