Yes.
And I open doors again with following verse from Glorious Qura'n:
Al Qura'n 3:64:
[Prophet,] say [to these Nazarenes], "O People of the Book, come towards a word that is common between us and you that we shall not worship anything except [the One] God, we shall neither hold anything equal to Him nor shall anyone of us hold one another as deities[1] besides the [One] God."
In these verses the people of the Book, the Jews, Christians and others, have been invited to join forum of common interest and open doors for peace and harmony.

Yes, I have tried to understand other faiths. I do this because I feel it can help understand the people who follow those faiths. It's about knowing what it is they belive and why they believe it, even if I don't agree with that belief (having seen many inccorect statements made about my own faith - I'm Mormon - in places like YahooAnswers, I know how annoying it can be to have someone outside the faith saying "Mormons believe such-and-such," and proceeding to rattle off something that isn't even close to what I believe; I don't like it when other people have misconceptions about my beliefs, so I try not to do the same in reverse).

Yes, yes and yes! It can be very challenging. In my experience, most Jews and Muslims are no more open-minded than most Christians. But I think the effort is important, and I plan to continue.

Yes, I know people of at least 13 different faiths, plus a couple of atheists. I met some of these people through conversations about faith and religion. Some I did not, and they are sometimes not willing to discuss it, though. Preferring accusations and name calling to actuall educating discussion.

It simply makes sense.......when I speak to people who don't believe as I believe, I look for those things that connect rather than separate us. I've only begun participating in these forums recently, but it seems a lot of people enter in attack mode. As a kid I learned to ask questions whenever I don't know or understand......
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7

Yes! I believe you cannot truly know what religion is right for you until you know the truth from followers of th faith. Besides, humans have a natural curiosity and I act on the curiosity every time I can.

I have. Actually I've very interested in what other faiths believe in and you would be surprised at just how many people are willing to discuss their beliefs with someone of another faith.
Have a lovely rest of the evening.

How dare you assume Americans have some sort of reasoning ability? You must live in a cave. Americans do and believe as they are told...just like trained rabbits. Their master is the TV. IF you want to get an American to do something just wear a TV over your head while telling them to do whatever.

I appreciate your question and its a good beginning to world peace. While I do not know any Muslims, I have watched public TV shows to try to understand their point of view.
Best wishes.

I've spoken to muslims about islam, so most of my understanding about the core beliefs of islam come from muslims. This hasn't made it any more likely that I would become a muslim though, in fact if anything it's made it less likely.
