My ex is talking crap about me and it hurts that he is doing that cuase it was his choice to party&doing drugs that ended our relationship yet he is bad mouthing me

The things he is saying about me are making me look bad and hurting my character to people who hardly know me what he is saying is also making it look like i freaked out when we broke up however i was very calm hugged him goodbye and that was it

I understand your being upset about what he is saying, however consider the source. He is apparently immature at best and has a streak of meanness seeking revenge. Ask yourself just how important the opinion (and that is all it is) of a person you chose to no longer be with, is to you? If it isn't important, then what he says cannot hurt you. If someone mentions what he says to you.... You need only respond to them that they should consider the source of the comments made and you really have no need to discuss them, because you were there and they were not.
He is attempting his revenge on your for leaving him, don't sink to his level.

you know the truth that all that should matter. who cares what others think. you him know. that's why he is talking all the crap. because he is a jerk. when people talk bad about another it is not to put the person down. it is to make them look good. GET IT

he just doing that cause he needs your attention - why you say well your not together anymore and his brain is full of crap and stuff so let them be - and also the people who hardly know you what do they care - they're not your friends anyways and if you show them that your affected then they will think that its true right? be strong girl!!

Well, if it's not true...you shouldn't care what others are saying about you. (I know it sounds easier than doing it) I would feel the same way if my ex says something bad about me.
I would basically ignore him and try to stay away from him as much as possible.

Well its his loss. usually the ones that talk have the problem. I think if your friends really know you, you shouldnt be worried about it. theyll stick by you!

hes probably in denial, and he doesnt want to admit to himself that it was his fault, so either ignore him and let him figure it out on his own, or tell him that it was his fault and that he needs to face it, because you dont deserve to be punished for what he did wrong
