My question is for Christians to answer (I hope I'm not discriminating anyone)..Christians will most likely know the answer to my question.

I've been going to church for quite a while...15 years to be exact. I'm 19 years old now.

This is what i've noticed..There are so many fake Christians..I am somewhat devote to God, and I am very proud of it. I love the teachings and the moral of our religion. However, I sometimes wonder if being a Christian is good or not (hope that makes sense).

I've met many pastor kids who are jerks and selfish (I don't like to judge people, but this is my opinion abt. them). Not only them, but others as well.

Therefore, I begin to doubt my faith..These fake Christians make me sick. They read the Bible, and they are soooo judgmental. Now, I am aware that they are human, but don't they listen to any moral lessons??? They really discourage me to become a Christian. My faith is not stable because of them. Hope that makes sense.

What do u think?

I'm not perfect myself..but I try to be a good person every day. In church, I try to ignore these questions. However, there actions bother me so much.

Like today in churh, I sat next to a person who is somewhat a loner. I was being kind by sitting next to him. When the service is over, i realized how much other Christians thought I'm weird. It's like they don't like me anymore. The last time I checked, Jesus treats everyone equally, right??

I love the Bible. The moral. The faith. They are so wonderful, but these fake Christians are so annoying...

I do read the Bible. I've been busy with my school work, so I don't read it so often.

Hello dear,

My advice to you is just to focus on what God would have you do personally. There are many hypocrites out there and there are those baby Christians who are not skilled in the Word. There are also "Sunday" Christians. It is not our place to judge. There are also those very sincere Christians who love God and love His Word and who try very sincerely to learn His Word and put it to practice. I know it is hard to see others acting in a contradictory manner. But, what I learned long ago is that I cannot change anyone. And I cannot let anyone get in between me and God. The relationship that you have with God is a personal one, and if we let things get in the way of that, it is strictly on us, it is not on anyone or anything else. Now what we CAN do is set an example. How to set an example? The bible says we are known by our fruit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galations 5:22
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galations 5:25
Dear one, If you feel God has called you to sit next to the loner, then do it by all means and take comfort in the fact that you are pleasing God. The ones that laugh and sneer will have to answer for that. The Apostle Paul said: If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Please write me if you need to talk. I would be happy to talk with you and pray for you and give you encouragement. Cat

Keep reading the Bible every day. (Psalms 1:1-3)

Here's how mythology works, according to 2 Timothy 4:3,4. "For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."

Following is a web page about mythology. Note the "combinatorial mechanics" of "eschatalogical reminiscences" and the evolution of consciousness of evanescent, dynamic multi-coloured imagination. Christianity as a mythology is a fairly widespread practice. This sort of Christianity does not require any genuine acknowledgement of God's existence, because it is a mythology like democracy is a mythology. As Joseph Campbell wrote in "Creative Mythology", when the authorised signs and symbols fail for the individual, they have a choice. They can either continue with the traditional mythology and endure a living death following social rites, or they can become a creative mythologist. Those who opt for the first choice might become proud of what "used to be" the case. For some reason, they may want to apply eschatology to these reminiscences. This is just stuff I'm making up out of my head. In any event, King Solomon wrote: "Do not say, 'Why were the old days better than these?' For it is not wise to ask such questions." This is at Ecclesiastes 7:10.

Also check out James 4 and 5 - the first few verses. Plus 1 Corinthians 11:17-33 for how drunk Christians behave.

I think it is important to know that you will encounter many different people all in a different place in there walk with Christ. Since Christianity is more than a religion it is a relationship with the one true God ever persons relationship is different. A persons morals and how well they measure up don't necessarily show exactly where a person is with Christ. I've done many foolish things and am a sinner at best. Jesus is my righteousness.
It is important to know where you are with Christ and to know the good that can come from your life more so than judging Christ by the works of others.
I think you are in a place where God is taking you deeper into your relationship. Things will get hard and your faith will be tested. Be glad that this is happening. Seek God and hold fast and much more Good will come from it.

Often, when we think we're unhappy with one thing, it's because we're really unhappy about other things.

Are you sure what you're unhappy about is the fellow people? It seems more likely that something about this church, this denomination, or Christianity in general might be leaving you a little unfulfilled, and you're taking it out on the other congregants.

You said you've gone to church for fifteen years, which is you're whole life, almost. Has it been the same church, or similar churches?

I would recommend you go to other churches, as a visitor. Fundamentalist, Catholic, liberal Christian (like UCC,) maybe even a Jewish temple, whatever is different from you're tradition. Go with friends, and just see what other churches are out their.

One of two things will probably happen. Either you'll find out that you are more suited to be a "Presby-methodist" instead of a "Bapit-piscopalian," or you'll find out that the people you think are hypocrites aren't nearly as bad as those crazy "Presby-methodists" and "Bapit-piscopalian" that meet down the street.

Being nineteen, this is the time for you to start exploring your beliefs, and testing them against the rest of the world. Go out there, and have fun, be respectful, and find things out.

What does a fake christian have to do with your faith? Do you have to go before God and explain their mistakes. Also, who are you to judge someone else, the only place you will go if you judge someone else is questioning your faith in God, which is happening right now. Jesus put it best when he said (paraphrased), "before picking the splinter out of their eye, take the log out of yours" I have the same problem and do not go to Church often anymore (no good churches), the reason being that this is a personal relationship between me and God. If you seek the truth with your whole heart and mind then you will find it. And remember to be a Christian is to not judge others, but judge thyself. To live like a Christian is to live unlike others, but live like thy true self.

Edit: Who is saying that these are fake Christians, they may not live up to your standards, but God does not use your standards. It is best to not worry about it. (sorry if this seems harsh)

Don't let the actions of others turn you away from a loving God . Pastors do heavy duty spiritual work for the Lord and are therefore on satan's top-list to be messed with . Most of the time pastors are strong in the Lord , so that the enemy attacks the mind of their children , it is visible in all churches.
Pray for your ministers and their families to protect them from the attacks of the devil and God will in return reward you for it.
Please don't give up the faith.
There are many Christians , who play church and have no power to do God's work or to witness to others, but those will have to answer to God for their behavior. Two wrongs don't usually make a right ! Don't worry about them , you make sure ,that you keep your eyes focused on Jesus and pray, He may want you to find another church to worship in. Seek God and He will answer !!!
God bless you in your endeavors !!!

We know that Satan works hard to destroy the credibility of the gospel message. One of the ways he does this is by using other "Christians" to be a poor example of the the faith. It is very sad that your faith could be shaken by others. Our hope and belief should be based on our relationship with Jesus, not others. I am aware that people can be a bad influence, but if you have a solid foundation in God, the whole world could pass away and it wouldn't matter. You need to be the example for them instead of relying on them to be your example. Jesus is your example, if you are spending time with Him everyday, you will be able to shift your focus to where it really matters. Think of Peter for example, when He stepped on the waves during the storm, the only way He stayed on top of the water is if He looked towards Jesus. When He looked away, he sank. Don't sink, look towards the One who is our true model.

I can answer this from the Christian viewpoint, which is don't let them get to you. Continue following God and trusting Him. Even when everyone else doesn't understand why, God is there. Follow Him and not everyone else.

But honestly, I'm no longer a Christian. I see the same thing so much, and I've always disagreed with the church's standpoint on sexuality. I'm bi, and it's not something I can just change because I want to or because I feel like it. And because I can't change, Christians tend to tell me I'm going to hell. Quite often.

But that wasn't my point. My answer for you is this: Follow the path you feel is right. Follow the path your heart leads you to, because you won't find hapiness anywhere else.

I am a Christian and have been for 30+ years. Please know that even Christians make mistakes, sin, and ARE NOT PERFECT. Also know that the Bible tells us you will know them by their fruits. What type of fruit is your life producing? What type of fruit is the life of these who you refer to producing? You can know that talk IS CHEAP and what is real is what you see as fruit from the way that that person lives their life. Fruit of love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, temperance, and faith are the ones that you need to be watching for and if they are not there then their actions belie their words.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater and hold true to God and live YOUR life the way the God expects. Set the example.

You can get like a bible study group going and rotate who hosts with a group of people you fell comfy with. I am just like you though. I see people go to church and profess to be a "Christian", yet I see them out on the town doing the total opposite. It made me stray away from my faith but now I just trust in God. The other people don't matter. True Christians are in the minority which is really sad. I believe you are one of them because you see the hypocrisy and strive not to be like them. All you can do is pray for them and don't look down on them. You are a better person than they are but they are human beings just as you.

Blessings on your quest and don't let any of these phonies stand in your way of the truth!
