the moral definition of adultery is for one individual of a married couple to engage in a sexual relationship with someone who is not their spouse. If so, then God and Mary had an adulterous relationship didn't they? That being said, then what would Jesus be considered? Mary and God weren't married, and Joseph never adopted Jesus, so; he would be considered illegetimate wouldn't he? Adultery is a relationship outside of marriage and babies born out of wedlock are illegitimate. That is the beliefs that churches hammer in to our psyches'. Isn't this a prime example of do as I say and not as I do.

The definition of adultery is, as you say, "one individual OF A MARRIED COUPLE." God IS NOT an individual of a MARRIED COUPLE!!! God is NOT MARRIED!!! Furthermore, you can make the same conclusion for Mary... Mary was also NOT an individual of a MARRIED COUPLE. She was "bethrothed" that's true, but she was NOT MARRIED.

Then, as one of the answerers pointed out, God did NOT have sexual relations with Mary. You are trying to define the infinity of God by our finite human understanding. Gabriel explained to Mary that "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you." This is clearly not sexual relations.... the penetration of a... oh you know!!!

Adultery is not "a relationship outside of wedlock." THAT is called fornication. Illegitimacy is "not recognized as lawful offspring." We are not speaking of LEGAL offspring, here... we are talking about Jesus being the Son of God, and that is indesputable regardless of whether or not He was/is LEGAL!

Therefore, regardless of adultery, fornication, illegitimacy or anything else you are throwing around up there, Jesus is the Son of God... PERIOD. God cannot sin, it is impossible for Him to do so. And if adultery, fornication, illegitimacy, and whatever else you toss in there is sinful, then whatever happened to conceive Jesus through Mary was not, therefore, any sort of sin. God did not commit sin so that Jesus could be born of Mary. Thusly, there is no "do as I say not as I do" problem with this.

Again, you are attempting to define and to understand the infinite God through human understanding. DO NOT LIMIT GOD, and do NOT blaspheme Him (attributing some evil to God).

HMMMMM? Well for starters Joseph and Mary were engaged not married. Second of all there was no sexual relation (Duh... Virgin Mary) God blessed Mary with child. Third according to Jewish custom and the laws of that time Joseph could have chosen to leave Mary or even had her put to death for being found with child however he chose to remain with her and raise the child as his own which was close as you could get to adoption in those days. Nice try, but wiser men and women than yourself have tried to discredit God's word with much more complicated queries. Study up a little before you try again.

not agreeing with how someone does something or how someone lives based on a belief is not judging them. If it is, then you are doing the same judging towards Christians that you so despise. We are simply trying to live out our faith. We are not condemning anyone. That is God's job. However, as Christians we are called and commanded to spread His message and that is why you probably hear stuff that offends you because you disagree. If you don't believe in heaven or hell etc. then a christian telling you that what you are doing is a sin really shouldn't bother you that much because you don't believe it anyway, right?

It is disgusting what little respect for others religion.
God does not need to be crude, plus Mary was not married at the time, Jesus is called the Almighty God so what shall we call you - a poster who ridicules others beliefs. Not worthy of the time.

God and Mary didn't have a physical relationship. Mary didn't sleep with God. It was the miraculous conception. There was absolutely no adultery. Mary was a virgin and God sent her Jesus. She was still a virgin in the sexual sense while she was pregnant.

That's a good question. Growing up a southern Baptist I wondered about why no one questioned this. I eventually changed to a not so blind religion. My ex husband's father was a preacher, he explained to me that the term Virgin back then meant that a woman never had a baby. If god did do the immaculate conception thing, then why is the world not awash in god's get? Because there are (worthy) nuns and female preachers, we (NEED) a new prophet(snicker) to lead us into more my invisible friend is better than yours taunting right? who believes in the bible anyway, who wrote the book? Not Jesus or god> They didn't even proofread or edit it. I seen no stamp of approval or authenticity on any of it. Only a fool follows something blindly and does not question it.

God and Mary DIDN'T HAVE A PHYSICAL relationship,,,the spirit impregnated Mary....and she was not married at the time but betrothed to Joseph....whom she did marry..and Joseph raised Jesus as his son.... so that pretty much puts a hole in your question.....

That was the argument back then, as well. So, the next question is not was Jesus illegitimate, but aren't we all? For when we judge 'God' we really must first judge ourselves. This is the main reason Jesus advocated a non-judgemental stance. But I'm glad you brought this up.
