First of all, dress for comfort and in clothes that make you look the most attractive. You may be sitting in an unair-conditioned gymnasium or a sports auditorium, so that would certainly influence your decision. As part of the audience, you can wear whatever you wish, although you might want to choose a jacket with a business casual pair of slacks instead of jeans or a fairly casual dress.

What you wear also may depend on whether you are going out to dinner afterward to celebrate. Any colors would be appropriate, but in honor of the occasion, you might want to wear your boyfriend's school colors--just for fun.

I participated in fall graduation ceremonies for my Ph. D. degree in December 1995, and looking back, I don't remember exactly what either I or my parents wore, even though I'm equally sure that I wore a dress and fairly-low heels.

His school colors or black are best. Wear something that makes you feel comfortable - Don't forget about comfortable shoes. Be sure to take your lip color with you for reapplication between pictures that his family are sure to take of you!
