The Pastor of my Baptist Church teaches that at the moment of Death we stand before God and at that time are sent to Heaven or Hell. He teaches from the King James Version.

No you will be standing before a mirror judging yourself and your own actions to learn from all you have experienced.

The mirror is metaphoric.

Doesn't matter what version, says the same thing, just written in a little different style. Your pastor is correct. At your last breath, your spirit will be judged and go to heaven or hell, depending on who you made your master and lord ---Jesus or satan. Basically, if you are not born again and changed into a new creation by Jesus while on earth, you will be separated from God forever. After the 1000 yr Millenial reign of Jesus, all the unbelievers' bodies will be resurrected, joined with their spirits that went to hell upon death and they will go to the Great White Throne Judgement to hear the words "Depart from me, I never knew you" from God. They will be cast into the lake of eternal fire forever, separated from God. God bless you and your pastor who is teaching about both heaven and hell---the whole truth of God. God bless

It will appear to us as the exact moment, but there will more than likely be a lapse of time that will will not be aware of.

Revelation 20:12 "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

This is the Great White Throne Judgement for the unsaved, and it will take place after a span of time.

The judgement of the saved will be at the Bema Judgement Seat of Christ.

We see yet another span of time before the martyrs are dealt with during the tribulation, after the rapture.

Revelation 6:11 "And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled."

Once we die, time and space no longer apply to us, because we will enter the presence of God, where time and space do not control Him.

No. That was a quik 2 points! Seriously, take anything your preacher tells you about something he knows nothing about with a bucket of salt, and investigate Near Death Experiences, and Out Of the Body EexperienceS for yourself.

That may be an interpretation that could stand some revising.
AFTER DEATH THE JUDGEMENT may not be as immediate as your pastor is interpreting it !!! But be grateful that your pastor is preaching it the best way he knows how, but he needs to know the whole counsel of God !!!

For many people what the phrase "to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord", means is that when one dies is immediately with the Lord. Corinthians 5:6-8

Jesus to the theif on the cross:

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.”

Seems like a man-made definition of how things will work. Not much imagination in that description of God. It's a good thing to suggest to masses of people as a way to control them and promote certain types of behavior. I think God's bigger than that image.

Based on scripture, I would say no, I don't think so. I don't remember the exact passage but it says that those that are dead in Christ will be taken up by Jesus just before the alive in Christ will be taken up to meet him in the sky. This indicates to me that people who have died will still be in the earthly realm...or at least not in heaven...until Jesus returns.

Here is my personal opinion. Please don't quote me on this one. We believe that we pay for our sins in our lives, whatever we do. We pay for all our deeds before we perish. And I don't know where we go, but they tell me that the soul is recycled and a new being is born each time one soul perishes. I believe in that. i don't know, but when I have hard times, I think it's obviously because of my past wrong doing.

God has given us free will to chose the way we live our life. He guides us and sends us in directions we should go but the choice is ours. God does not send people to hell, we send ourselves there. He simply honors our choice. He doesn't like the choice you have made, but he honors it.
