to all, please understand, I am a Witch and I know we don't beleiv in a devil and I know Buddhists don't either. That is not my point for asking the question. I know that some (emphasize some) Christians think that Witches are in league with the devil, I wanted to know if their belief about Witches applied to their beliefs about other non-Christian spiritual paths, like Buddhism. IE, to Christians who DO believe that Witches are in league with the devil, do YOU think the same of Buddhists? If not, why not?
I hope that clarifies it....

to Neil P: you are not accurate on your estimate of my age. I have not studied Buddhism, true, and I did presume they are not in with any devils, but tell me if I am wrong on this point. As to Witches, what makes you think I am not? Did you read my clarification? Perhaps that will help clear up some of your confusion. My main point was that it seems to me that Christians associate the idea of a devil more with Witches than with Buddhism, and I am, with my question, trying to find out if this is so. That's all. OK? Let me know if you need any more information in this regard. Oh, and that was cute, thinking I was younger than 20.

It seems like most people in this topic don't know anything about Buddhism.
Buddhism basically comes in three varieties:
1. Buddhists who believe Buddha was a great man and wish to emulate him.
2. Buddhists who believe Buddha was a god, and try to be like him.
3. Buddhists who believe in many gods, possibly including Buddha.
Some Buddhists do believe in a "devil" figure (after all, Buddha was supposedly tempted by this figure's five daughters) and some probably do not. But that has nothing to do with the question.
Most Christians, I would imagine, consider Buddhism to be either devil worship, idolatry (which is in fact false; no Buddhist that I know of actually worships the statues of Buddha, those are merely for concentration and something to focus on), or belief in a false god or false doctrine.
But I'm not a Christian, so I can't say for sure.
P.S.: I'm Whillow's husband. :-)

Though I am not a Christian for some of them to believe that Buddhists are devil worshippers is not correct for in Buddhism there is no supreme evil being nor a benovelent god, however there is a definite bellief in a variety of evil spirits as well as a good ones. Regarding witches no I do not believe they worship or are in leage with an evil being. As you might know there are good witches (Like youreself) and evil ones. Most witches of the western tradition are good and respect the mother Earth and try to live in harmony with the natural workld as well as the human one. Hopefully this helps to answer youre question.

I don't.
My grandparents and most of my mom's side of the family is Buddhist, but my family is Christian.
If people are raised into a certain religion, and they believe it is legitimate, than how can they really be wrong? That's not devil worship... according to the Christian belief its the worship of a false god or a false idol, but I don't think its anywhere near as bad as devil worshipping. To worship Satan requires a conscious knowledge of who Satan is (evil, abomination to god). Worshipping in the Buddhist fashion is not the same, because Buddhists believe that their gods are also benevolent and righteous. There's a huge difference, in my opinion, but I'm sure most Christians will not see it that way.

The "witches" you describe are the stereotypes found in movies and novels. REAL witches do not worship the devil. Rather, their religion is centered around the earth and they worship a diety that is both male and female (a mother goddess and father god).
" We respect life, cherish the free will of sentient beings, and accept the sacredness of all creation"
-------------------------------------------------------
As for Buddhists, they certainly do not worship the devil. I dont even know where that idea comes from. Even though the bible does say that other religions are wrong, Buddism and christianity actually have similar characteristics.

This will probably not be a popular answer but, I try to keep in mind that there will be more than just christians in heaven. There are religions that I don't understand or necessarily agree with, but in the end I believe it is what is in your heart and what you stand for that will mean the most. Judgemental attitudes do not show an attractive side to any religion or belief.
It seems like so many people believe that they have to have a rock solid opinion on everything or else they loose points for their team.....
Well, my bottom line is that I will try to be an example of God's love and let Him do the sorting. Loving someone (not always agreeing with them, or even condoning them)regardless of their individual beliefs will not get you a ticket to hell. Keep in mind, God loved the unlovable.

I didn't know that I believed witches were. Guess I'll have to add that to the list of things I didn't know that I believed or wanted as a Christian until I was told on yahoo.
A few more and I could probably write a book.

I am Christian, and I do not believe either are devil worshipers. You are idol worshipers. Besides, Buddhists and witches do not believe in Satan or evil do they?
