I asked a question earlier, Did Jesus ever laugh.

I got an answer ' just because it is not in the bible doesn't mean it did not happen'.

I say just because it is in the bible certainly does NOT mean that it did happen! Like Noah's Ark for example.

Despite what Justcurious up there wrote, God CAN NOT write; ITS an energy, its language mathematics.
Alot of what was written in the bible is based on metaphors and symbolisms...and guess what, it even steals from other civiliazations; the flood has already been written in a much older culture, the Mayans, I believe is the name.
Anyway, read it and see if you can deciphers its intent, and question yourself on it, including the reason why Jesus' many years are missing from the bible (probably would've mentioned that he would've preferred Buddism) and judge for yourself, seriously.
Going back to mathematics: Adam and Eve and the tale of the broken rib...X and Y chromosomes...what happens when you "break" off a piece of the X...hmmm...

Not everything.

For example, the Bible states that the universe was created in 6 days (sunday/saturday: for the seventh day adventists was rest) and on the 6th day man was created. Was the human race co-existing with dinosaurs? Where were they in the Bible? Is there really a doubt that dinosaurs existed.

Also, when stories, like the Bible, were being passed down, before reading and writing, they were told by word of mouth. Now I'm sure everyone knows how word of mouth spreads... There's always some twist or exaggeration. After that, books were written out because copies couldn't be made until the printing press in 1041. This also provided a source of change. How many times have you mis-read someone's illegable writing?

There are so many opportunities in the Bible for interpretation, and taking it literally is taking it too far.

The bible is a best a *semi*-historical cultural document. It's sort of like science fiction, but without the science.

I can't believe some of the answers I've read. There seem to be people out there who actually believe the Noah story. Some people honestly think the Grand Canyon was carved out by a flood? Some people think there is evidence that such a flood occurred? Unless they're in the marketing department for that new Evan Almighty movie then it's pretty clear they are completely deluded and partially insane.

Personally I don't understand why the Old Testament and the New Testament are together. They're about as different as night and day. Their different tones make it pretty clear that they were written by men in two different time periods with two different sets of ideas.

Noah's Ark really isn't the best example for this, as there are accounts of great floods that covered the earth in other cultures across the world. The flood is not a "Christians-only" story.

I'm not saying everything in the Bible happened as it is written. I'm only saying you don't have the best example.

i am not mentioned in the bible, too. but i am real. or do you think these letters here written are not real? everything is real. and illusions, too.
and what is the use of something beeing written in the bible or not? certainly jesus was humorous at some times. when he was talking to the lady at the well outside the village about here many men, this was certainly humorous. this whole conversation was humorous. jesus was not a german coldhearted theologist! he was also smart at some occasions. because he could/can do anything, also beeing smart. do not restrict jesus to beeing what you think he is or to what you have read in the bible! jesus is everything, not just this or that. quarreling is quite useless. otherwise how could he have said, he is the truth and the way. is not there A LOT of humor in truth? it is.

The Bible was written by over 30 men over a period of 10,000 years. So ofcourse not everything in the Bible is real. But that doesnt mean everything is a lie either. There are fish skeletons high up in mountains from the same time period the Great Flood was supposed to have happened. And no one can deny the numerous miracles Jesus did and hundreds of people described the same exact way.

BUT...let me point out some false things about the Bible. If God made man into His image, then God looks sorta like a monkey. Modern man, homo sapien, is the fourth generation of its species. Also, Goliath was not as big as the Bible says he was. He was most likely the size of Shaq, who ofcourse if huge but not 25 feet like the Bible describes.

To answer your question finally, it is human nature to laugh. Everyone laughs. The Bible isnt going to record every single little detail about Jesus's life. I really do not care to know what time he went to bed or what he ate for breakfast or when he went to the bathroom, that stuff isnt important.

I agree with you. The Bible was written by men, not God himself. You cannot believe everything that is written in it. The Bible is filled with stories that teach us how to live our lives if we want to be good Christians. They are stories that show how awesome God can be. Noah's Ark, like you said, is very fictional. There is no way a giant ark was built with two kinds of animals all over the entire world. It is a story that shows us how if our world becomes so full of evil, we will eventually destroy ourselves and have to rebuild. While not all of these stories are true and were written by men, people should see the underlying message and believe in that.

No religion is completely correct, most likely. I don't think any religion still tells the whole truth, not after humans had their chance at dissecting it a bit. That's just how humans are -- new religion? One enlightened man preaching something? "I have an idea! Let's deify him, throw in some new laws, and doesn't that make more sense now? Everyone will join our religion."

That example was not Christianity specific. Don't kill me, please. That has happened in several religions. But the point is that whenver a religion crops up, it _changes_ over time thanks to the influence and needs of the followers. There's no way around it.

Jesus was human. He lived 33 years. In that time, he had to have something to laugh about. Don't you think he may have laughed during the marriage celebration at Cana.
I'm sure he has a great sense of humor. Laughter is part of the human emotions just like crying is. Just because it may not say that in the bible doesn't mean he didn't. There were many writings about Jesus that were not put into the book form. There is a verse that supports that as well.

Jesus was just like us, except for sin. This means he had emotions and definitely enjoyed a good laugh. Saying that something is NOT in the Bible could not have happened is silly. But things recorded in it did. There are many scientists such as geologists and pantheologists today who see strong evidence pointing to a great flood in not so recent history of the earth. In my experience the Bible has never been wrong and anytime I need to correct my views, it is always toward a more literal meaning.

regards.
