I have dark hereditary circles under my eyes (i get enough sleep, but they are always there because of my genetics) so i went shopping for a conceler today since thats what my dermatologist reccomended and i tried on and washed off about 10 different kinds. so the delicate skin around my eyes is really sore since its been washed and rubbed so much! what are some good soothing at home recipes of things that most people have around their house like cucumbers (except i dont have any right now, so other than cucumbers) that will sooth and moisturize and help minimize the dark circles and puffiness?

I have read that teabags will do the trick. Just run them under cold water, squeeze out excess water and let set on your eyes as long as you can, preferably before a nap. If it doesn't work, at least your eyes will feel refreshed!
Good luck!

I'm looking forward to reading your answers. I'm a 42-year-old guy with the same hereditary problem. I hope you get some answers other than makeups and concealers... something that will actually eliminate or at least reduce the dark circles and puffiness. I look like I haven't slept in a year *all the time*.

There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

Natural home remedies::

* If you have access to fresh figs, try cutting one in half and placing the halves under your eyes. You should, of course, lie down and relax for 15 to 30 minutes. Okay, fig face, time to get up and gently rinse the sticky stuff off with tepid water. Dab on some peanut oil.
* Drink at least ten glasses of water everyday.
* Apply a paste of turmeric powder with pineapple juice for dark circles under the eyes.
* Dip cotton balls in chilled water and keep for 5-10 minutes on the eyes.
* When figs are not in season, grate an unwaxed cucumber or a small scrubbed (preferably red) potato. Put the gratings on two gauze pads, lie down and put them under your eyes. Rinse thoroughly and dab on some peanut oil.
* Dark circles can be removed by doing pranayam daily for at least five minutes.
* Grate some cucumber and freeze in an ice tray. Massage frozen cucumber cubes onto eyes to reduce puffiness and dark circles.
* Massage with almond oil under and around eyes at bed time daily for 2 weeks and see the improvement. Almond helps to remove dark circles, and is an excellent "skin food".
