I simply need a verifiable academic (or closest available) of the number of Historians that agree Jesus as a historical figure existed, how many don't, and it would be nice to get a figure stating the percentage of Christian historians within the Historical community.

Can you people stop answering if you have nothing to bring to the table? I don't need to hear "well of course he must have existed." I need a citation regarding how many within the historical community accept Jesus as a historical figure.

Don't know myself but I'll be watching the answers!
Edit: 'offkey, there's not a whole lot to be sure of...Josephus is not considered a reliable source b/c later insertions/forgeries have been found
'makemeaspark'-the majority of the world believed the earth was flat so using the excuse that the majority of schools taught him as a historical figure doesn't mean much

Are you serious? Up until about 20 years ago He was taught as a historical figure in schools and colleges, secular and religious. No one even questioned that He existed.
Have we gone this far with the relativism of our schools that people can be deluded into believing that Jesus or the Holocaust or even 911 never happened? I see why we are rock bottom in the sciences and math in this country.
Ok how about this: The Archko Volume by Kent Publishing has letters to and from Caesar explaining the illegal trial of the man Jesus. Letters from Herod, Caiaphas, Gamaliel, and others. Then there passages in Josephus' Antiquities of the Jews.In the Babylonian Talmud, the formal commentary on the Jewish Laws compiled between 200-500 AD, there's a powerful reference to Jesus:
Cornelius Tacitus (A.D. 55-120), another historian of first-century Rome, and considered one of the most accurate historians of the ancient world, in an excerpt from Tacitus tells us that the Roman emperor Nero "inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class...called Christians. ...Christus [Christ], from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus...."
Suetonius, Pliny the Younger, and Thallus (the other three great historians from the first century) also wrote about Christ, Christian worship and persecution that is consistent with New Testament accounts.

The debate isn't over whether Jesus ever lived, there is mountains of evidence that He did. The debate is over His Divinity, whether He was God incarnate, or just a mortal. Historically, try Josephus. He was a first century Jewish historian who wrote about Jesus.

I wouldn't give one dimes worth of credibility to anyone who denies that Jesus was a real person.
Read Josephus, who references him as a real figure of the day; although Jo wasn't writing to validate him; but rather to explain how the Jews got in the pickle they did that led to the massacre by Roman General Titus.
Anyone who denies that Jesus was a real historical figure is a crackpot. Sorry, but a fact.

If you want to know someone who did his homework on Jesus, read the stuff by Lew Wallace. Also, consider reading the books and letters of C.S. Lewis.

sure I doubt worldwide background often and in no way settle for it till I even have don examine on it to be sure no count if it particularly is actual or not. interior the path of the years background is and has been written with the aid of the winners or the helpful. All issues that some uninformed persons settle for as actual are actually not fastened and everlasting in human way of existence. possibly fastened interior the minds of the weaker minds yet not people who decide for to comprehend the reality. I evaluate myself to be very recommended approximately background and that i comprehend that the NT tale is fictional and Jesus isn't something extra advantageous than a composite character performed with the aid of a royal Roman. I used to doubt Jesus yet now i'm particular that he replaced into in no way actual, and to declare particularly existence of Jesus is an oxymoron and he isn't historic. If he replaced into there could be mentions of him in many written works, and in exactness not as possibly what Jesus meant as reported interior the bible. there is not something in the worldwide that would tutor Jesus certainly lived. I even have reported that i don't have confidence background till I even have finished the examine. possibly you suspect that George Washington admitted to scaling down a cherry tree with the aid of fact he could not tell a lie. Such nonsense i've got not got faith. What background are you relating once you're saying replaced into written 50 or 60 years in the past? in case you decide on for the reality you're able to do the examine, and the bible isn't actuality and that's all which you have for information of Jesus different than some so-talked approximately as church fathers' maximum of who have been writers of the NT. that they had ulterior motives to objective to sell Jesus as actual. Alexander the super is regular in background and much is stated approximately him, all of us comprehend his father while Jesus' father is a fantasy and so is Jesus. you are able to ell all which you quite decide for, there is not something to tutor Jesus replaced into actual, not something.

I'm an atheist, but I think it's been proven that Jesus existed. Actually, I'm sure of that. I don't think anybody can deny that. It doesn't prove he was nothing but a mere mortal, though.
