...if you had to make a clinic-wide announcement over an intercom that Mr. Looney was there to visit his cat? What if it was the whole familiy and you had to announce that the "loonies" were there to visit? Or the looney family?

I don't know why it makes me laugh so much. I can never help it, but I always feel bad!

Maybe you can just call out the the initials plus the surname so it wouldn't seem like a joke or something to laugh about, e.g. "Mr. J. T. Looney is here to visit his cat."

And it is simply rude to laugh at names. That's kinda being immature. Kids do that. But adults would be really immature to still be doing that. Self-control, hunny. It may of course be funny but you shouldn't still laugh.

Relax. I'm sure they've heard all the jokes before. I knew a guy named Buttram and it was tough. You just learn to relax. Try using his first name with his last and act like it's no big deal and try to contain your laughter and maintain your professionalism until after the situation is over and these people are out of earshot.

So, no...I wouldn't laugh until I was alone. They can't help their name, so pointing out something or laughing is immature and hurtful to people who cant help it. Make the best of the situation.

I would laugh later, though. Not alot because its not THAT funny, but I would at least smile or giggle about it.

If your job is in customer service, or even if you just represent the clinic, it's inappropriate to laugh at the Loonys.

As your employer, I'd warn you about it because, as names go, there are harder names to deal with than that. If you can't control yourself, perhaps you are in the wrong line of work.

As a mail carrier, I've seen all kinds of names.

I have a customer on my route who's first name was Visitacion. Hmm. Makes me wonder how her parents came up with that name.

Kids tease kids about their names. In the adult world, it's unacceptible.

No. I have a friend whose last name is Looney. Perhaps there are people who find your name ridiculous.

I would not be able to make the announcement. I would laugh too much.

If I was your boss I would fire you for not being a professional and not being able to do your job.

Perhaps you should investigate a new career, maybe Chucky Cheese is hiring.
