i pretty much have the same thing, when i keep it natural. if its really that bad, set aside an hour to straighten your hair. it dooes straighten completley, if you really want to take the time to do it. seperate it in layers; half up, and half down. it makes straightening it easier.
i always keep my hair straight, and if you spend enough time on it, your hair can be thinner and not as much of a hassle.

get very choppy layers starting around your cheekbones.. a good stylist will know what they are doing. your hai is most likely puffy because the waves are being weighed down.. the layers will separate the waves and let them naturally fall [scrunching will work well with this cut]

If you want it curly, use a little bit of baby oil and gel after washing it.
If you want it straight, use a blowdryer to dry it. Then get a straightener (ceramic are best) and straighten.

Get a chemical straighter. You cand get them at Walmart or CVS. It worked for me. Make sure to follow the directions very carefully. And condition it really good when your done.
