If you hire an illegal you can be fined by INS. If you refuse to hire them you can be sued by EEOC for racial discrimination.
On October 26, 1999 in the Chicago Tribue, EEOC head Ida L. Castro declared that the EEOC would begin enforcing Affirmative Action protection on behalf of undocumented workers. So the government is handing out fines for hiring illegals while making it impossible to afford to not hire them. The companies can lose more money for racial discrimination lawsuits brought by a government agency for an illegal that they refused to hire, than a fine for an illegal they did hire. Does this make sense?

Roin Hood, Myself, wife and five kids own our home. I Have a 3.96 GPA in college, and hate what people like you are allowing to happen to my country.
Sageandscholar: Please pay attention before displaying stupidity, is not Ida L. Castro, Chicago Tribune, October 26, 1999 enough of a source for you? Do you need a hand written letter with a signature or what?

I actually feel somewhat bad for what I said to RH and SAS. I asked a question about a double standard our government has which adds to the problem and recieved personal attacks concerning my worth as a person. Grow up and use your brains to discuss not insult.

What a great, soft-sell euphemism, "undocumented workers."
No, it does not make sense. Nor does a federal law that mandates any hospital that has emergency facilities has to allow "undocumented" citizens the right to use their facility for their primary care - at the taxpayers' expense.
Does anyone truly believe that the greedy, unscrupulous employers give a damn about a workers status when they toil away at $8 or $10 an hour with no benefits or taxes?
Let's not give them another excuse for hiring illegals vs. legal citizens - they don't need any reason other than greed.

I think some of our government encourages the hiring of il-legals. I was fired over my arguement that people worked in an English required job setting, everything was in English. The non-citizens didn't understand job training, couldn't read how to do things, yet, I was constantly written up, suspended, and eventually fired over my arguement that if they can't do the job why hire them in the first place? They said I was racist in my work place after almost 10 years of seniority, 5 weeks vacation, and 3 weeks of free PTO (Paid time off for never calling in sick.) I really think I was fired for having earned about 2 months of free pay per year in reality. Yet, they wrote some stuff about me being racist, becasuse I had to do the alien's jobs, or if I didn't, because of all my seniority, they said I should know what needed to be done by everyone. Yet, they told me to only worry about my job. Our government needs to rid citizens of having to keep our mouths shut, when we understand what work needs to be done. If illigals get amnesty, make them also pay the medicaide, social security, work comp, local, county, state, and federal dedutions that we citizens pay. Then if they see how it really IS to be a USA citizen, then they wouldn't have reason to come here to screw up our economy.

Current laws stated that it is ILLEGAL to hire an illegal alien. Jorge Bush and the other Washington weasels say our current laws don't work. Why don't they START enforcing them?
Jail the employers to dry up the job market. No jobs = no illegals! They will start self-deportation! Sounds like a good plan to me!

It makes NO sense whatsoever. It is Illeagl for them to be here but they all work in the factories around my home and the employers know they are illeagal. The companies don't care where they come from they are a dime a dozen for employees and that is all the eployers care about (cheaper labor).

We need to just get the illegals out of this country permanently and arrest and deport them if they somehow get back in. This country is overwhelmed by mexican immigrants. I hate going out sometimes because they are such shady characters.

The law is the law and should be enforced.
That's the bottom line.
Prosecute the employers...AND the illegals.

This whole thing is way out of hand. It makes no sense. They should build a fence at the border and start deporting the illegals.
