New World Translation
- Watchtower Bible and Tract Society
New International Version
- International Bible Society -Zondervan
Amplified Bible
- The Lockman Foundation
Though there are errors and verses left out (the latter two) in these they are easy to read.
A good bible teacher can explain difficult verses.
I use King James Version (Companion Bible Version) and a Strong's Concordance for the most part.

Probably the New Living Testament. This link goes to a site where you can read the Bible in a variety of translations. The default is the New International Version which is also a fairly easy to read version. Click on any book that you want to read and then you can choose at the top of the page different translations like the New Living Testament.

I think if the bible had a few "ya-alls", and a couple of "shouldn't a dun thats" ,it maybe wouldn't be any easier to understand but it would be more fun to read. You're right I can't understand a lot of it either. But, the jist of it is we are to love and not hate. Most of the wars on this planet have been fought in the name of God, but they've been started and fought by man. Lets try a little more of God's interpretation and not our own.

New International Version is what I use. My husband likes the New Living Translation. Both are much easier to read than the King James. Good Luck and God Bless.

Bible languages scholars identify the NEW WORLD TRANSLATION as the Bible that is the most accurate in its translation, and still easily readable. This was a question asked on the TV game show, Jeopardy!

The English translation I would suggest you read is the NIV:
New International Version.
See links below:
NIV is the largest selling translation in the USA for the past several years.
