This means in a way that God would find pleasing.

Jesus was the human form of God, and came to Earth not only as the final sacrifice to end all sacrifices, but as the perfect human example.

He lived a life on Earth as a human. He was born to a woman, and raised in a family. He had brothers and sisters a Mother and a Father. A typical life in a typical Jewish family.

He matured, and worked at a typical Jewish job until he was about 30 years old, which is just about the time that regular folks got married and began their own families. There, his path changed, and He began his Earthly Ministry.

Through it all, Jesus did not sin. He was the perfect example. Even when Satan tried to tempt him, Jesus did not sin. He used Scripture to shut Satan down. Satan, by the way, knows Scripture, too. When Satan would try to use a scripture as a temptation, Jesus would quote a better one back! Exactly what we should do when tempted!

So, "in a Godly manner" means following the examples set forth for us, in a way God would approve of.

Living a life that would please God by following the ways God said were good. Joy, Peace, patience, kindness, goodness, self control and Love. these are all fruits of the spirit. We are to seek peace and respect authority.

We are to not just talk a good faith but to show a life lived out in faith every day of the week. Focus on our actions that they are in line with what we say. This is why words fall short to people that need validation. When both are in alignment then a child's self esteem and needs are truly met.

Why on earth would we want our children to be petulant and vindictive? Maybe they mean we should try to teach them to be omnipotent. Oh, oh! Or, maybe we're supposed to teach them to speak in parables that have little or no relevance? Yeah, I'll go with that one. =)

Well, if they mean the god of the old testament, you would raise a monster for a child, whereas if they mean the New, you would raise a used car salesman. Hope this helps in you search....

A godly manner is a way of behaving where a person knows what is pleasing to God and what is displeasing to Him. Here are a couple of passages where this type of behavior is explained.

Ephesians 4:22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. 25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. 26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and give no opportunity to the devil. 28 Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. 29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Romans 12:9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be conceited. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." 20 To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head." 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

You teach your children what the Bible has to say about what they should say and do so that they can live a life that is pleasing to God.
