My parents were refugees from the Soviet Union in 1981. Within a few months they immigrated to the United States and soon after acquired citizenship. They are not considered refugees, and for me to be considered a Soviet/Russian refugee would be laughable.
So how is it that a person living in Jordan, with Jordanian citizenship is considered a refugee because his Grandfather 60 years ago fled from the Galilee?
How many other examples are their like this in human history?

Adamska,
thats the point. Why are they still in those refugee camps? Why are they not encouraged to integrate with their host societies? Why are they kept in a ghetto like lepers?

Basically, only two groups which have, as refugees, retained their distinct cultures:
1.) The nation of Israel which was conquered and dispersed in 135 A.D. and were refugees until 1948 when they finally regained their homeland. (one hundred generations in exile)
2.) The Native American tribes who are still refugees in their own lands, but who will, hopefully, regain sovereignty over them someday. ( eight generations as internal refugees . . . . so far.)

The major problem that there is no such a country nor ever was a country by the name of Palestine. It was a territory where Jordan, Iraq, and all countries south of them except Yemen and Egypt was. Ottoman Empire were there before the British , and so was the Persian empire before them. (check old maps)
The freaking British were in control until 1948. So ask them why the hell they did to divide this area and how they treated the people living there at that time.
Jordan, Iraq and other REFUSE to help hooligans because that's what the current "Palestinians" are.

First let me explain your third paragraph, where you say Jews were expelled from Spain/Portugal. Actually Jews were Expelled from France/Italy and all Europe. Not just Spain/Portugal. Second. It is not easy when people are moved out from a land they have lived and known as their own almost all their life, we should know that. It is a sad reality that the Arab nations refuse to allow the Palestinians into their lands. But I don't blame the Palestinians, nor do I dislike them. Infact I sympathize with what they went through. By sympathizing and showing them we are not bad, maybe someday there will be peace.

Love your question! Great point! They will be refugees for another 100 years! Their brothers-Arabs won't let them have the citizenship of Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt... And they will be kept in these smelly dirty camps, just so that a "point" could be proved.
And even 100 years from now they will blame "Izrail" for all their troubles.
What can I say? Oy-vey!

There are all the Jews who have been kicked out of the Arab countries since 1948. You hear all about them, right? No? Oh, wait, that's because Israel took them in and made them part of Israeli society.
What happened to the homes they left behind? Could they be given to the Palestinians?
Actually, other countries might be happier to have the Palestinians there if the Palestinians didn't try to kill the citizens or rulers of those countries like they did in Jordan and Lebanon.

I agree with the point you are making. Prior to 1948, when Israel became a state, there was no 'Palestinian' people; they were classed and regarded as Arabs.
So WHY do Lebanon, Jordan and Syria keep the Palestinian refugees in these awful camps??? Why aren't they integrated into these Arab states??/
Why do these same Arab states demand that Israel takes them in when they themselves, fellow Muslims, refuse???
Israel did not 'illegally' take the land from anyone; anyone who has even glanced at a history book knows that the state of Israel was created by the British who held the mandate. The Arabs/Palestinians were given half of that land; they CHOSE to leave so that the surrounding Arab countries could all declare war on Israel - which they then did!!!
