I am looking for some eye poping ideas on how to decorate the parents' information bulletin board as they walk in the daycare.

I always get GREAT feedback from parents on bulletin boards that are interactive. Some examples are:

A beach theme with each child making their own beach ball at home with family members. The beach ball is then added to the bulletin board showcasing what that family did together :)

Ask the parents questions about their child's school. Title the bulletin board "Did you know?" Velcro the answers to the board so when they take it off and flip it over they can read more information.

Showcase a family of the month or a class of the month or grade level of the month. Parents love to see what other children at the school are doing, they get ideas on what they can do at home to entertain their kids.

Look for free activities that parents can take their kids to do during the summer. Have a map of your city up with things highlighted. Include index cards with a brief description and contact information so that parents can grab and go :)

Have children draw pictures and decorate around the board with their pictures along with the information. This shows the parents that the children have been involved and is child centered which lots of parents are looking for. At the daycare I work in, as you enter, the whole part of the lower wall has pictures from all age groups (babies from after school aged kids) drawings. The chalk boards that have parent information is on the upper half of the wall.

This may be a little challenging for your kids, but you can try to see what kinds of answers they come up with. When I taught kindergarten, I did a bulletin board entitled Love is... A Friend is... Family Is...I went around and asked each child to tell me what they thought each of those things were. I put up one answer in each category for everyone. They came up with some pretty creative answers! I also like to do "Heart Butterflies". I cut out two large hearts and several small ones. Glue the two large hearts together at their points, and slide a clothespin in the middle for the body. Then glue a folded chenille stem to the top for antnnae (Tacky Glue). Decorate with googly eyes, the smaller hearts (peel and stick hearts work great as well), and glitter. Another one we did one year was "Cupid's Cuties". We took the children's photos with their arms outstretched and glued them onto hearts. Later, they took them home and gave them to their parents with the caption added, "I love you this much!"

Get a piece of wallpaper and staple that to the board, a very eye catching color that will highlight the information as you post it. The make sure each piece of information is also "backed" with another bright color, not just the white piece of paper.

Pictures of their kids, every parent loves to see their own kid displayed in the preschool, plus its cute to see them interacting with the other kids. Have it go around the edges and put all the info in the middle.
