Maybe not.
Becuase I buryed my cat in my backyard as a youngin.
I don't know if there is a difference between cats and dogs.

It depends where you are. My friend in the city of GR has all her pets buried in her yard. Not illegal.

I think in Plainwell you can bury relatives in your yard. Okay I'm kidding. It should be fine.
