Jesus at His return will appear in the sky; the righteous dead will be resurrected into new, immortal, glorified bodies, the living believers will be instantaneously changed into new, immortal, glorified bodies and we will together meet Jesus in the sky.
He will then come down to set up His Millenial (1,000 year) kingdom here on Earth, where we will rule with Him.

I do not believe in the popular rapture theory as everybody else believes. I do however believe that when Jesus comes back to judge the world His Chruch, the true Christians will be taken. Isn't that the rapture you may say? Nope because "my view" on the rapture is that when it (rapture) happens there will not be nobody or nothing left on the earth. I think the "rapture", as people call it and the destruction, judgement of the earth are going to happen at the same time. There will be no 7 years tribulation, no fictious millenium reign of Jesus Christ setting on a throne in a Temple in Jerusalem that will never be built. This belief all steems from 1840's teachings of John Nelson Darby and was popularized by Cyrus Scofields "Study Bible" commentary. If you properly interpret the passage from Matthew chapter 24 where Jesus is saying "SO IN THE DAYS OF NOAH SHALL BE THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE" you will understand that during the time of Noah the WICKED (unbelievers) were taken and the Godly family of Noah was spared. That view is totally opposite of this so called rapture theory. Think about that for a while.

Because Heaven is where the departed spirits of those who have died in Christ go to await the day of the Lord Jesus' return where they will be united with a glorified body while those who are still alive will be changed into glorified Saints right after that.
Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.
1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.
Then there will be a new Heaven and earth and it will in effect be Heaven on the new earth.
2 Peter 3:11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Revelation 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." 5 And he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." 6 And he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. 7 The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

Because it doesn't mean heaven, it means air, or sky. Jesus will come in the clouds, and the dead in Christ shall rise first, and then the living shall be brought up to meet Him, and then He will take us to heaven to be with Him a thousand years before bringing us back to a new heaven and new Earth :).

Perhaps all that this means is we will be going up into the air on the way to Heaven. Maybe Christ will meet us in the air halfway. I never thought about your question before.

When the trumpet sounds, the good will not hear it cause they will already be in heaven. Any one else will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air -- NOT heaven.... there will be plenty of people who go to heaven, plenty to hell, and plenty in between 'in the air'....

The rapture is just a made up story that a bunch of bored bible scholars came up with from picking and choosing this verse and that verse. It will not happen, it is nothing but a waste of time. So stop wasting your time and fearing the big story that drives you into church. All it is is a spiritual gun that they are holding to your head to force you into church.
