Vintage video camera.?

Question

I was wanting to purchase an old color camcorder. If anyone is familar with the one from the John Lengend video - P.D.A., or the ones frequently used in surf videos. Those are the types that I am referring to. So if anyone can give me a year, model, or brand, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I want it to be color.

not familiar with John Legend, but my first guess is he used small motion picture cameras and not videotape.
