I believe that when you die your soul cannot live without a body so your soul dies also. Your body is buried, where your soul is really in like a deep slumber state until the second coming as it states in several verses but I'll use 1 Thessalonians 4:16>>For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the arch-angel, and with the trump of GOD: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17>>Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

It's what I believe....what do you believe????

I have a hard time believing the same as many of you...after all... it says Jesus comes down from Heaven and the dead in Christ shall rise....It doesn't say we all come down,,,,the dead in Christ rises and joins with him to get our new Heavenly bodies

It's just a simple Q....I respect the fact that you believe other things...I am just curious as to WHAT others believe.

and it would be nice if you actually put in the book, chapter and verse if you believe different. So I could do even more research.

Hey! funny enough you and I have the same beliefs :), and there are tooonss of scriptures that back up what your saying.
Its interesting how so many people believe that the soul cannot die, when Jesus specifically says that it can when He was talking about not fearing who can kill the body, but fear who can destroy both body and soul, in Matthew 10:28, o and keep in mind that back then hell just ment the grave.

There are many parts of the bible that support a spirit being within our body. The creation itself and God breathing the breath of life....what is the breath that woke Adam's vessel up? There is a part the old testament where it says the "nephesh" came back to I believe a little girl named Sarah who was dead. There is another part where Christ tells the thief he would be in paradise today. There is another part where Jesus dialogs with Moses and Elijah's spirit. I think the original intent of creation was to have somewhat of a heaven on earth, with the fall of Adam that all changed, but the Resurrection is in my opinion a bodily one where the spirit is re-united with a purified form of the flesh in which humanity will live in a new earth as originally intended. I think back then "sleep" was used to describe how the body looks when deceased and since the flesh is the source of all sin which will be purified that is why it is constantly referenced. When it all comes down to it, it would really be hard to understand what was truly meant because of the lingo and wording used back then compared to the translations now. The original text of the bible was so sophisticated that not many people understood it so it had to be loosened up a bit to get the message across....however Jesus does have a parable which references a rich man being in "hell" looking up to the poor man who was in heaven....why would Jesus use such a parable of that concept didn't exist? Sorry if this doesn't make 100% sense I am half asleep and have 2 little puppies yapping in my ear!!!!

I believe that my spirit will go to be with the Lord Jesus and that it will reunite with a glorified body when Jesus returns with all of the departed saints.

2 Corinthians 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.

1 Thessalonians 4:14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

Genesis 2:7 states the soul is made of two parts, the body, formed from the dust of the ground, and the breath of life, or spirit, which makes that body live. When God brought the two together, the soul came into existence,"and man BECAME a living soul". Hence, man IS a soul, rather than having one. Ezekiel 18:4, 20 and Ecclesiastes 9:5.10 tell us what happens at death. Man dies........therefore his hope is in the resurrection.

At death, the spirit is separated from the physical body and enters the world of spirits to continue learning and progressing and to await the resurrection where the spirit will be reunited with a perfect physical body, never to be separated again.

This is not speculation. The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth and we now have living prophets and apostles to help us understand scriptures such as the Bible better. The web page referenced below contains more information.

The soul never dies. That is why it is so important to know Jesus as your savior before you leave this earth. The bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. A believer in Jesus Christ goes immediately into the presence of the Lord when they die.

The verses you quoted have to do with the rapture of the church, by the way.

Why Jesus has a voice of archangel?

Do you have a voice of a woman? problably cause you are a woman.

Eclessiastes 9:4-6 "For as respects whoever is joined to all the living there exists confidence, because a live dog is better off than a dead lion. 5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.

that is far from what I believe. I believe when you die "to the dust you shall return", in terms of your body, your spirit will be returned to God, and your soul, well, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".

so I believe your soul gets to Heaven where you wait until there is a new Heaven and a new Earth, as described in Revelations.

When you die your body returns to the earth and waits on the day of judgment. Then as you have shown, on that day the dead in Christ will rise first to meet Him. If you ever have any questions I have some other verses I can give to you telling about the state of the dead.
