We believe in the Jesus Christ of the Bible. We believe he is the Only begotten Son of God the Father. We believe We can only be saved through his infinite Atonement. we beleive that if we really love him we will keep his commandments... We believe he is the Light, the truth and the way. He is the cornoerstone of our religion.

All of our beliefs are only apendages to the Saviors birth, life, death and ressurection.

Why do so many people think we are not Christian?

Annie, you made a great point. Thats what i don't get when they say we aren't Christian. According to the dictionary...

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Christian

Christian (plural Christians)

1. (Christianity) A believer in Christianity.
2. (Christianity) An individual who seeks to live his or her life according to the principles and values taught by Jesus Christ.

Christian

• adjective relating to or professing Christianity or its teachings.

• noun a person who has received Christian baptism or is a believer in Christianity.

This doesn't say that a Christian is someone who believes ONLY in the Christian Bible, or believes in the Trintiy, or anything that people have said "makes you a Christian and if you dont believe JUST that you arent.

Don't ever pay attention to those who are misguided, or those who were excommunicated from the church.

Members are not always a good example of the doctrine.

But the doctrines of the Book of Mormon and the Bible are without any doubt true.

This is why so many Catholics, Episcipolians, Lutherans and thousands of other denominations like the Southern Baptists have converted already. They cannot doubt the doctrines, they can only doubt the people.

Our "people" are often a persecuted people in that it likely is the one true Church of Christ.
If you pray upon the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible, the spirit will confirm the truth to you. Just do that and discover for yourselves, let no man be the judge except you.

I will take your last question first. It is because your church doesn't view us as Christians. They have reasons that they say that and they involve the nature of God, baptism, salvation, Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon.
What the Mormon church believes is at variance with the Bible. Your church president has even said this. At a church conference a few years ago, he said that the Mormon God is not that of the Bible. Now you are coming along and saying the opposite.
If you move on from there, there are irreconcilable differences between the teachings of the Mormon church and the Bible on:
-the nature of God
-the nature of Jesus
-salvation
-baptism
If you move on from there, the changes to the Book of Mormon from its 1st publication are too significant to have it seriously regarded as Scripture.

Hey LDS Mormons If God Himself doesn't know of any other gods, how could the Mormons know of millions of gods?
“ Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘ I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:6)

Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one. (Isaiah 44:8)

Aslo see Isaiah 45:5; 45:14; 45:21; 45:22; 46:5; 46:9; 43:10 all of these verses say there is only one God

Yet part of the mormon doctrine of God is the belief that every male mormon can become a god himself? joseph smith said, " You have got to learn to become gods yourselves the same as all gods before you." Brigham Young said, " The Lord created you and me for the purpose of becoming gods like himself. We are created to become gods like unto out father in heaven.

It all boils down to the concept of the Trinity. We don't believe in one God, without body, form or passions. We believe that God and Christ are separate in being, but one in purpose, thus negating what the trinity teaches. Never mind the fact that the Trinity wasn't taught by Christ, or that it was a man-made concept, brought about by a council of men brought together by Constantine, who wasn't even Christian.

K.. enough of that!! I don't fault anyone for what they believe. I think everyone should have something they believe in, even if it's different from what I believe. How do we know who is really right or wrong? We won't know for sure until we die.

I think that we all need to understand that just because you hear something about a religion, doesn't mean it's true. You would be better to ask someone who is practicing that religion. That way, you get the answers straight from someone who really knows what they believe. Just hearing it from someone else isn't going to make it all true.

It is basically because we have continuing revelation and have received more light and knowledge than what has been reveled in the bible. Other Christians can't accept this and there fore label us as non Christians.God has always revealed to the people what they could cope with and understand. the people before Joseph Smiths day couldn't cope with the knowledge that was revealed too Joseph smith but by the time the JS was born god felt that the people could cope with the knowledge.

To Other Christians I would exhort you all to go and research exactly what doctrine the early church believed in. look at what the apostolic fathers where teaching I have looked at it extensively and you will find that allot of the doctrines that the LDS church teaches were being taught in the first 2 centuries AD.

Seriously: this might sound a little conceited but thats not how I mean it:
They are jealous. They know that our church has the reputation that we strive to be PERFECT. They know that in other christian faiths they can pretty much do whatever they want and will still be fine in the end.
They feel bad for this because they can feel its wrong and they can feel the spirit in us even though they reject it.
So - they denounce us and say we're not Christian. But really - if acting like that and being so intolerant is what the word "christian" implies then I'm ok with them calling us not-christian....

On some movies I watched, it shows that only Americans think that mostly. Not many Europeans or Africans say we're not Christians. I have found a couple people on R&S who say we believe in a different Christ than the Bible, which of course is not true.

I've noticed that the definition of a Christian for everyone is different. To some people, it's what you stated above: The belief in Christ, that he is the Son of God and the Savior, etc...but other people tend to put many guidelines and restrictions on who a "real" Christian is and who isn't.

My personal take is anyone who believes in Christ and follows him and accepts him as the Savior is deserving of the Christian label, but not everyone agrees.

I consider myself a Christian because I accept Christ as the Savior, and I strive to be like him in my everyday life.

"Wherefore, by their fruits, ye shall know them!"
