To be honest, the pills are only treating a symptom and do cause the liver damage. Her diet would have to change permanently to affect a permanent solution.

I was diagnosed with bi-polar too and have been prescribed almost every type of medication there is, you shouldn't worry. Her bf is right the meds have serious side effects and she should find an alternative. After realizing that none of these medications are going to help (I only have had side effects), I stopped taking them. Even if the medications are working for you they are not solving your sisters problems, they are at best masking them. Happiness can't be achieved by taking a pill, you need to work through your problems, realize what is bothering you and correct it. Probably would be helpful to talk to someone she trusts, who is open minded, not biased or judgmental.

The actual diagnosis of a bi-polar person would have mood swings yes, but it is for a longer time frame than 2 days it usually is at least 3 to 6 months for a change between manic or depression.

Hi:

Did you write in about a week or so ago about your sister and her b/f? I think so.

I only ask so I can get my head straight...

What does Mom & Dad have to say about this? They are seriously going to have to sit down with this person and tell him he is becoming a danger to their daughter...no matter what she says.

Unfortunately it is out of your control, but you are a great brother and she will realize that one day.

But I do believe that if she is under 18, it is all up to Mom and Dad. Try to make them see what you are seeing and if you have to show them, then have them count her meds out and it is easy to see if she has missed doses.

I hope she slows down a little soon.

Be safe and be well.

I'd say you are right about her skipping her medication.... since when did her boyfriend graduate from medical school?
