I don't understand. They don't look like anyone I've seen from the middle east. I thought they were of the seed of Abraham like it says in the Bible and originally from the land of Israel. Shouldn't they look something like the other people from that region of the middle east?

I'm guessing you're an American? Most American Jews trace their lineage through Europe, so intermarriage over the course of several centuries has gradually led to a more European appearance. Jewish societies that have lived in different parts of the world, sometimes for well over two thousand years, have picked up the physical characteristics of their regions. Did you know that there are black Jews and oriental Jews?

Yes, they are, but you are forgetting a very important fact: Hebrews (later known as Jews) are a very close knitted society and since the beginning of times, they don't use to mingle and mix with other races often. So they have "evolved" within themselves. That's why they don't look like the rest of the people in the Middle East.

Because not all of them were born jewish, for starters, some are converted. And... as a RACE and not a religion, they don't tend to have the same physical traits as caucasians. They have olive complexions, dark hair and eyes, and several other defining characteristics.

Over the years, I think that all of the races have mixed together to the point where a lot of them have started to look less like they originally did.

In anthropological terms, there is no such thing as a "Jewish race," regardless of what Hitler and some other fools believe. The color of a Jewish person depends on where he lives, and what his parents looked like. Ethiopian Jews (and yes, there are some) are dark-skinned. Polish Jews are pink-skinned. Sabras (those actually born in Israel) can be any color, since there were so many European immigrants to Israel after the Holocaust ended.
"Jewish" isn't a race. It's a religion. That it is the focus of so much hate is a mystery.

Why does it matter to you? That's the beauty of all peoples-individual in looks. Try being more observant when you watch the news etc. Many times a persons ethnic identity cannot be determined by how they look.
For example: I've been told many times that I look like an American Indian when in actuality I do not have any American Indian genes, just "good ole Tennessee" genes. lol Possibly, it could be in a persons perception of how another person looks that causes such confusion.

Times have changed. People have migrated around the world. Jews come in all races now. We Caucasians don't really mind if some look like us. In fact, they make very interesting and knowledgeable friends. We even hug sometimes. After all, Christians and Jews all have the same 10 Commandments.

Why wouldn't they look white, they are for the most part white. If you go back 3500 years in archaeological studies done in the Pyramids that were made during the time of the Pharaohs when Israel was enslaved the paintings on the walls of the pyramids show the Egyptians, who are painted black, and ruling over the Israelites who are painted white. If they were white then, and are white now, my guess would be that they have continued to be white for all those years. What is your proof

The way I see it, the Jews have faced much persecution as a hated people and are shuffled around whenever they are kicked out of a country that they were once welcome in. In a way, they seem to be cursed to wander. They are very lucky that they have survived at all. They have very good hearts and deserve our grace.
