I took Paxil regularly for about 6 months. I know for a fact that it comforted me psychologically more than it physiologically helped me to deal with depression/anxiety. It is used to treat all sorts of things, so I'm not sure what results you are looking for.
Here's a site with good patient-generated feedback on Paxil:
http://dailystrength.org/treatments/Paxil/
If you'll notice, over 1,500 people have rated it with a 54% success rate, YIKES!! Take a look around and compare it to other drugs on the market...you may want to consider talking to your doctor and switching things up. Best of luck with everything.

I used to take 25 mgs of Paxil CR. I took it for social anxiety and it really seemed to help a lot. But a couple months ago, I started feeling really depressed. The Paxil stopped helping because it was mainly for social anxiety, but then my depression started getting worse and it didn't help with that. I suggest you talk to your doctor and see if you can switch meds. Pretty much every medicine will work for awhile, then stop working. At that point, the doctor will either change your dosage or change your medication.

I had been taking Paxil just at the time I began to tumble down the rabbit hole
(and they diagnosed me as if I was ill, haha)
If you ever encounter something strange, let me put things into a wider context:
Don't get lost in Wonderland ----> Question what you think and believe, thinking is always a mostly wrong perspective
Avoid side effects or withdrawal symptoms using The Road Back program

Good news...no. I took it for about 9 months one year. It worked for awhile, but then the doc had to keep increasing the doses b/c it wasn't working for me. After awhile I had to quit taking it because it was not helping. During that time I gained 40 lbs. The doctor took me off of it slowly, but I had bad withdrawal effects...headache, dizziness, sweating, chills, nausea. it was awful.
However, with that being said, that does NOT mean you will have the same reaction! Everyone is different in how meds affect them. You might do just fine with it and have no problems. I knew somebody who swore by Paxil because it helped her so much. Good luck!

i have been prescribed several different anti-depressants over the past few years. paxil (paroxetine) was by far the most miserable one of them all for me...i was prescibed this medication for panic disorders though, not for depression. the doctor who prescribed it to me, started out me on 40mg. a day (which is a very high dose)...this drug cause me more mental and physical anguish than just about anything i have ever experienced (physical sickness, paranoia, hallucinations, suicidal tendencies, etc.) and to top it off...it was a nightmare to get off of it...

I took it for about 10 years and it has worked well for depression and anxiety.
If you think it's too expensive, there is a generic available--Paroxetine.
How long did you take it? DId you take it every day? If you don't take it every day for about a month it's probably not going to help.
If you took it every day for 30 days and you don't think it's helping talk to your doctor.
