The dream has to do with an area in which you feel confident, but that still has pressure and anxiety associated with it.
The pool transforming from something tiny to something beautiful suggests your own confidence with regards to swimming. Although you may have started out small and insecure, you have blossomed into a confident swimmer, and thus take pride in your achievments.
The pool didn't need filling because you didn't need to 'fill' yourself with anymore confidence: the pool was ready to go. Doing the cannonball could represent a playfullness and a willingness to stretch yourself in your abilities, and the fear of drowning is simply the fear, that all confident people have, that no matter how good they are, they can still fail.
It could be that the dream was simply reminding you that, no matter how confident you become, that the fear of failure is always lurking, and that the best way to deal with it is to remember the basics: the belief that you CAN do this.

It sounds like there is an issue that has been getting bigger and bigger, hence the change in the swimming pool. Perhaps the swimming represents something that you have control over normally and a change has occurred either in the relationships with the people on the swim team etc. Someine is trying to change what you have, maybe hold you back from achieving something you want. The drowning could be connected to that loss of control.

I don't think your dream has anything to do with swimming. But like you said in your dream everyone got a different present. But what you received was specific to you and your life. A swimming pool can represent something in your life which will provide comfort and relaxation. The tiny swimming pool represented the beginning stage of cultivating and getting ready for something bigger. Next, you said you got a bigger swimming pool, but in order to enjoy greater things you have to put in more work. This is why you struggled, you assumed it would be easy at the bigger level. Your drowning can represent the worries associated with having more and the responsibilities of it.

It's hard to say, because meanings of dreams change from person to person. Water does not have a single meaning for all people, but is dependent on the person, and recent happenings.
But based on what you've said, I'd say a possibility could mean you are concerned about failing in something you think you should be good at, or are expected to be good at by others. Not neccessarily swimming.
It reminds me of dreams I have right before a project or paper is due where I forget to turn it in, or over sleep, etc.

Actually, this seems like a "freeform" dream, Nothing more than your brain exploring different themes and images. You mentioned you and your friends got gifts from an unnamed source for no reason. Your gift morphed into a large pool. The end was a dip into fear but not significant except it ended the string.

The question I would put to you, is are you neglecting other "gifts" that you have, I don't think that the dream is about your ability to swim, obviously you are an expert in that area, and feel very confident of yourself, with respect to your athletic side, but are you exploring the other facets of your personality enough, emotional, spiritual, intellectual? Water is a symbol for the emotions, yet a personal symbol for a part of your life where you are comfortable and confident as well. You feel confident in water in your waking life, but in approaching a symbol of emotion, which gets deeper as the dream progresses, you suddenly find yourself trying to cope with something outside your experience....Perhaps you dwell too much on your athletic side, where you feel confident, but feel ill at ease where your emotions are concerned? Could you have a situation in front of you, which is asking you to pay more attention to your feelings, but perhaps you're concerned that if you jump right in to it, you will be overwhelmed by it ? (such as falling in love, as an example)....

You might have gotten a pillow or blanket on your face that was blocking your air. Then you were dreaming, you felt like you couldn't get air. When you are deeply sleeping you are almost paralyzed, so you have to "wake up" slightly to move. That is why you dreamed the drowning dream, it woke you up enough to move and get the blanket or pillow off of your face.

Maybe you have that sleep disorder where you stop breathing during the night and you happened to jump in the pool at the same time it happened... outside circumstances (music, people around you, etc) can effect your dream.

relax, yes dreams do mean something, but by the way you are saying it, it makes no sense, so nothings wrong, unless you have done something bad, this dream is just probably recalling your last christmas, when you got the pool and your first time swimming...
