As a heathen, I always wonder why no one's liver ends up on a stick for things like that . . . :-)

It's actually not as *bad* a match-up as it might be; however, given the ancient tensions between Germanic and Mediterranean cultures, I'd read the following link before joining the two:

. . . at least Hecate's not ROMAN, lol.

In the Northern traditions, it was Freyja who taught seidh (a form of oracular sorcery) to Odin. If you feel drawn specifically to Odin, you might look there.

I usually address them as Father God and Mother Goddess, though I will use specific names in the right circumstances. I use their names from the Greek pantheon, and I personally do not mix pantheons.

The analogy of mixing pantheons that I read and liked was that of a blended family at Thanksgiving where everyone might not mesh well with each other, causing tension at the table.

Paganism is non-dogmatic. believe what you will. besides the shown fact that, the particular definition of paganism includes a polytheistic perception. quite than dividing your capability between 2 conflicting perception structures (ie. New Age and Pagan) you ought to do properly to earnings one or the different. Wiccanism is a wierd beast because it does tend to mixture numerous perception structures into one way of practising, and consequently has inherent inconsistencies. consequently, to pay interest your energies and develop right into a extra efficient practitioner, you may desire to to earnings a particular branch of magic, at the same time with Celtic magick or Cabalah. you may try looking up the Pagan equipment observed via your ancestors in case you be attentive to adequate approximately your organic originals. (case in point, i'm Irish, so I practice Celtic magick). Wiccanism is extra a huge type than a solidified perception equipment. in this learn, you ought to decide to ask for a manifestation of an unaspected god or goddess or a particular goddess, at the same time with Brigit (ask her that can assist you write a poem!). there is not any disrespect. who're you irritating approximately disrespecting. I assure the gods are not indignant. i be attentive to few Pagans who follow a dogmatic line. this is a miles extra worthwhile question to ask while you're dropping capability than to ask while you're being disrespectful. Than being stated, if Wicca "works" for you and you're happy, basically irritating with regards to the social conventions of spellwork, forget approximately approximately each thing I honestly have stated and proceed including your artwork, a happy magick being. In Paganism, this is not any longer the path you're taking, that's manifold and countless, however the purpose and the form you attain alongside the way.

The Lord and the Lady should Be carefully evaluated and choose the characteristics that fill you spiritually and make sense to YOU. I have heard of people mixing Yes , traditionally it is the Horned God , )nature figure) and A female like Diana, (mother Nature) GA IA what have you , as long as there is a female male aspect. The point is to embrace what feels right to you . blessed be.

PS> here's some quotes to help you out.

The importance of the Goddess symbol for women cannot be overstressed. The image of the Goddess inspires women to see ourselves as divine, our bodies as sacred, the changing phases of our lives as holy, our aggression as healthy, our anger as purifying, and our power to nurture and create, but also to limit and destroy when necessary, as the very force that sustains all life. The God

The God is the consort of the Goddess. He is represented in many versions: Pan/Horned God, Child God, Blue God and the Green God. He is Sky Father, The Lord.

Other than just claiming to be or reading some books that may or may not be accurate, how does one know if one is a Wiccan? If you understand the origin of the term "Wicca" why would you want to be one?

How do you know if you are doing it correctly?

The beauty of Wicca is that, unlike more structured religions, you can pick and choose which parts to focus on, as long as you hold true to the overall beliefs. I personally have not chosen any particular goddess or god yet. That is why I refer to myself as a Pagan leaning towards Wicca. I haven't found a particular set that makes the most sense to me yet.

I don't use specific names. Using names (to me) seems to limit abilities. I would use specific names for specific purposes though.
