I bought laptop Toshiba Satellite A105-S4547 with pre-installed Windows Vista and just can't work with some AVS DVD software pieces to edit converted video files (from VOB to mpeg2)
and then create a new DVD.

When I try to work with AVS, Windows Vista throws message like: oreans.sys driver has to be updated.

What free download sites are safe in terms of virus stuff to download oreans.sys update for Vista?

Thanks!

oreans.sys
Oreans.sys is related to XProtector. Professional Software Protection System for Windows.
http://www.greatis.com/appdata/a/o/oreans.sys.htm

Service (registry key): XPROTECTOR
Display name: XPROTECTOR

Is the file in this path?
Image path: \??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\Oreans.sys
Is the Image size: 41888?

You installed xprotector at any time? It says right there what it belongs to.

You may have a virus/adware/trojan/spyware/malware.
Need advise how to get reed of it mail me.

More than likely it's part of some sort of protection scheme from some shareware application who have installed.

Any recent shareware apps come to mind?

It is odd though that there is no mention of that file anywhere on the net except for that one chinese site.

I'm sure bangbang found it by searching google for xprotector. Oreans website doesn't list that program anymore, I think they changed the name to Themida. Whatever the case, it's definitely part of a content protection system.

Go to the Toshiba website, i think it's the safest place to get that driver, I give you the link below where you can directly search for Windows Vista Drivers. Besides it's the rigt one because they are very specific. There are 26 options with all the vista drivers. It is possible that an " upgrade" would be the right one
