I filed a 1040X admendment on April 4th, 2007 and still waiting on my refund. Why does it take 3-4 weeks to process admendmends? I also received an additional W-2 form that was not included in the admendment. I took it to my tax preparer and he stated that since my salarie, wages was $340.00 it did not need to file an additional admendment. Is that true and can I use this W-2 when I file my 2007 taxes?

You'll need to file yet another amended return. You can't just let it ride until next year. Exception: If your total wages for 2006 was only $340, then you really don't need to file the amended return. But if the new W-2 is for $340 and your total wages are above the filing requirement amount for your filing status, you must amend again and include the missing W-2

Amended returns actually take 6 - 8 weeks to process, by the way.

You'd better find a new tax preparer. NO it's not true that since it's only $340 you don't have to report it. If that were your only income, that would be true - but if you're filing an amendment, then you obviously filed a return, so you have to report everything.

And no, you can't use a W-2 from 2006 when filing your 2007 return.

You'll be hearing from the IRS at some point about the unfiled W-2. It might or might not hold up processing of your 1040X.
